Empowerment from Source Point Training | June 11, 2012
Greetings!

This time of year, we receive many calls from people who are interested in attending our Fundamentals and Mastery of Performance Coaching certification training that starts in September.  This is an exciting time as the soon-to-be Certified Professional Performance Coaches prepare to graduate after 9 months of very comprehensive coach training.  Below Melissa Gaeke, one of our current student coaches, shares the scholarship fund project which I encourage everyone receiving this to support in some way.  Each graduating class develops a strategy to create scholarship funds for the next year's students as a means to create opportunities for new students.

I have had the honor of training and certifying outstanding coaches through the last 10+ years and asked some of them to share their stories about how taking the training to become a coach assisted them to develop the coaching practices and contributions that they are today.  Take a few minutes and read some real stories of real coaches and what is possible.

Enjoy!!

Three Amazing Coaches!
by Barbara Fagan

Meet Penny Polayes, Mary Bender and Cami McLaren as they share their thoughts and personal experiences in being Performance Coaches.

Penny Polayes

I now know that I was intuitively coaching all my life AND after going through the coach training - I now have the competencies and I understand what I'm doing and how I'm "being" with people.  And through the journey of becoming a coach, I realized that it was assisting me to be a better wife, mother, daughter, sister, employer, friend - I was becoming a better person because of all the insight I received as I completed my certification for Performance Coaching from Barbara Fagan of Source Point Training.

Professionally, being a coach has greatly impacted the business my husband and I own as well having developed a successful coaching business. Within our medical device manufacturing company, I am the Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and responsible for "Human Development" and our internal Company Coach. Incorporating coaching into our business culture has us inventing and creating as we go and always opening new possibilities.  I have coached our employees in the different styles of communication and what it means to flex to someone else style, resulting in increased productivity and efficiency.  We have also incorporated the 3 P's - purpose, product and process -- AGAIN so much more efficient and reduces meeting time because everyone knows what we are working towards and thus a more focused, action-oriented meeting can take place.

Amongst our 26 employees, I have organized and facilitated a weekly "Leadership Forum" for our Management Team and I always bring a tool or technique that will enhance the management team to be the best they can be as they lead their area of the company.  I also coach many of our employees one on one - both professionally and personally.  We've made it a benefit of being a full time employee of our company.  Research shows that employers experience on average 7 times their investment and we are living proof! My philosophy is if you have a happy employee working on their personal growth with a coach - then you'll have an amazing work environment and the end result is that the customers will be happy!

I have continued to participate with Source Point Training to enhance my coaching and facilitation skills.  In my private practice - www.pennypolayes.com - I facilitate and coach around topics that assist my clients in living the life of their dreams.  I've organized an "Explore Your Best Life" book club which is designed to bring woman together and assist in finding the philosophy from books by the sharpest minds in the personal growth arena, and incorporate what works for them as they are on their own journey of self discovery so that they can LIVE their BEST LIFE possible.  I also do keynot speeches and have spoke at many functions and been spreading the word about how beneficial it is to take yourself on and hire a coach - your world will change if you decide to change it!!

I am currently scheduled for my Oral Exam with the International Coach Federation to be credentialed as an Associate Certified Coach - this is very exciting and I'm thrilled to get this very prestigious credential.  With the foundational training and CCEs I have received from Source Point Training and work with many clients, I am confident that I have the skills to achieve this credential.

Mary Bender

Excited, optimistic, and content - that's how I'm feeling right now about the direction of my work -- and life!  And, it's great to be living out the principles of Source Point Training's Fundamentals and Mastery of Performance Coaching and Leadership Source now two years after graduating.  What I recognize as I look through the rear view mirror is that the SPT Coach Training wasn't just a short-term, what we call in Colorado "mountain-top-experience"; but instead is a sustainable foundation for work and life!

When I started building my business - Milestones by Design Consulting, I was all over the map, unclear about where I wanted to make an impact.  After assessing my own purpose, along with my education and experience, I found my niche in Emergenetics - a revolutionary approach to personality profiling.  I find that this narrower focus has helped me create extraordinary results with my clients and is helping me grow my coaching and facilitating opportunities!

My focus now is working with corporations - building team performance through understanding each individual's Thinking and Behavioral Preferences defined by the Emergenetics Profile.  The coach training was, frankly, invaluable.  I notice it's not simply the intellectual learning but also how I approach my work with teams - BEing coach!  The ontological coaching method blends perfectly with the brain science methods of Emergenetics International.  Our training around VAK (Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic)  supports how I advise and strengthen teams to appreciate the gifts of all members of the team.  Our rigorous work in listening and language has helped me enhance a deeper understanding for my clients.  The "Ah Ha" moments abound in my training programs.  Most importantly, my clients see results - a key emphasis for all SPT coaches.  Yes, it's fun to facilitate new learning and build a more collaborative work environment but what really matters these days is the bottom-line results.  My clients share that they are beating deadlines, are UNDER budget and developing more innovative products.  That's results!  Rocks are hard and water is wet, right?

Cami McLaren

I stand apart as a coach in the world as a result of the training I received with Barbara Fagan of Source Point Training.  First, just my being trained has me set apart as not all coaches have invested in themselves in attending a foundational training program.  But the stellar training I received sets me apart not only from non-certified/trained coaches, but also from other trained coaches.  I have had coach trainers from other schools comment on the outstanding level of skill those of us trained by Barbara have.

Secondly, Barbara Fagan has always stood as a resource to us and her being a resource to me has aided me every step of the way in building my full-time business.  I know I can call her anytime - and I do!   Additionally, the coach training advice I received about building a business was invaluable to the success of my coaching practice.

Before I went into coach training, I worked 30 hours a week as a contract attorney.  This year (only 4 years after graduating), I am on track to make the same amount of money as a coach working the same amount of time as I did as an attorney!

There is so much going on, it borders for me on the unbelievable:

  • I created and now facilitate a class for small business owners centered on accountability and enrollment, relationship tools and time management.  What I learned from my training was how to market and enroll and how to keep people engaged and enrolled.
  • A colleague and I are writing a book on coaching tools for lawyers and the American Bar Association (THE national authority for attorneys) is going to publish it in 2013!
  • I have 12 clients - it is amazing that when one stops another arrives and it is so very easy!
  •  I am working with another colleague to develop a group coaching program for attorneys and their staff, mainly centered around communication.
  • I hired a Virtual Assistant.
  • I am working on a book/class with another coach and best-selling book author.
  • I have a regular blog and newsletter.
  • And for the most part, I only work when my kids are in school.

I am proud of mySELF.  I am in constant awe, gratitude and amazement.

NEW SPT Workshops for Your Company or Organization!
Source Point Training offers 1/2 or full day workshops to companies and organizations likes yours!  If you would like to have have Barbara, Lou or Kelly motivate and inspire your work teams or volunteer groups with a fun, high-impact workshop, contact Ginny at 800-217-5660 ext. 101 or at [email protected].

Here are just a few of the highly inspiring workshops available:

Presuppositions of Excellence  -  Leaders who create revolutionary positive change hold the same presuppositions about how they choose to lead.  There is nothing new, only new environments in which to apply these foundational presuppositions of excellence.

Accountability Prices and Payoffs - what it means to be in ownership.

Ownership in organizations is often talked about, but seldom set up in a way that everyone fully embraces individual accountability.  In this session, you will discover a breakthrough model for looking at all your results as a way to create more positive outcomes.  Find out how a reframe of what it means to take ownership and be accountable can lead to innovation and out-of-the-box thinking.

Engaging Top Talent to a Higher Level of Contribution and Retention

Most people today consider an 18 month job rotation in or out of an organization as the norm. Unless people see their career path and growth opportunity, they will seek alternatives.  Companies lose $328 billion a year for lack of employee engagement.  On average it takes 1 times annual salary to replace an employee.  Learn our proven model for engaging employees and raising the bar on commitment.

Women  - Stepping  into The Driver's Seat

Today, 50- 60% of women working are still in staff jobs and only 17 of the Fortune 500 companies have women in the CEO seat.  In this high impact session, women will learn a formula to establish their net worth and how to get in the driver's seat of their life.  Put up the STOP sign on compromises and "giving up" on what you want in order to stay on the road.  Examine your true purpose and be guided by that each day to feel fulfilled, balanced and in control of your destiny.

Your workshop attendees will LOVE spending time with Barbara, Lou or Kelly and will leave absolutely lit up and ready to take action in their lives and relationships like never before!
