April Shower Bring May Flowers

Well, they certainly do. For some parts of the country, “May flowers” have yet to occur. Here in California we are finally seeing the results of all the rains and it is glorious.bridge

Lou and I were in New York City the end of April and since this is her favorite place to visit, we explored it together, as we’ve never been in The City at the same time. Well it certainly is the evidence of Class and Sass. She loves the city; but take me home to the country life and my garden! I am happy.

As I share this with you, I am reminded of how different we all are and yet so much the same. People, especially this time of year are coming out of the winter blues and rejoicing in the renewal of spring, whether visiting on the streets of New York City or at newly opened farmers markets. As a coach and facilitator of change, I am always amazed as I watch and listen to people share their experiences and their perceptions of what is real for them.

Continuing the Connections
At Source Point Training, we continue to connect with new groups of people, and we are so excited to share news about some of these newly formed alliances. Lou and I met, and had lunch with, the President and Vice President of the NYC International Coach Federation (ICF) chapter, Laurie Lawson and Terry Yoffee, respectively. We discussed trends in coaching and how influential the NYC chapter is with many coaches across the country. They were very excited about the possibility of Lou presenting to their chapter on the importance of relationship coaching as it applies to all coaching niches. Also, for the record, Lou was invited to present for the ICF Latin American Coaching Conference in Lima, Peru in July. Many of us will not be able to be there, but you can be sure we’ll have a video of her presentation on our website.

After years of wanting to have our coach training curriculum acknowledged by ICF, we are so excited to announce that we have been approved for 87 hours of CCE units for coaching core competencies. This will provide our coaches, graduating from our Fundamentals and Mastery of Performance Coaching trainings this year, the advantage of their hours of coach training be recognized by ICF. Thanks to Andrea Voirin who took on this project for us and for her professionalism, expertise and understanding of coach training skills and distinctions of this well-proven coaching curriculum.

Talk About Us
For all of you who have experienced our coach training, please let others know the valuable learning experience it can be for many different arenas. We remain the source for pointing people toward a powerful vision of creating revolutionary “positive” change in the world.

It is wonderful to be connected to such a powerful community of people. Enjoy the season!

What Are You
Passionate About?

“A great leader's courage to fulfill his vision comes from passion, not position.” – John Maxwell

Look around – where do you see this quote live in your life? I love what it says and it is something I truly align with. Recently, a team of Leadership Coaches from Source Point Training contributed to “Chalk it Up,” an event in Redondo Beach, California, benefitting Hands on Art, a non-profit organization dedicated to keeping art programs in school. Attendees were connecting and creating beautiful art through imaginations, chalk and pavement. Walking the path of squares, and seeing children light up as they created their drawings was incredibly inspiring and created a very magical day!

Leave a Legacy of Expression
Hands on Art is passionate about sharing the gift of art with children. They encourage creative expression and are taking the lead to keep art in school which allows children to create and express who they are in this world, from whatever they are passionate about. Leading from passion, and leaving a legacy of “creative expression” with the next generation of leaders is a vision that Source Point Training certainly aligns with.

What are you passionate about? Where do you see your passion line up with your vision? Can you imagine living each day aligned with your vision? That is what leadership is truly about. You don’t need to look any further then what resonates in your heart, values, purpose and vision. Today have courage to lead from your passion and experience your contribution in this world! •

PS — If you’re in Southern California, Join us tonight, Wednesday, May 12, 7 p.m., for our Coaching Boot Camp, held at the Redondo Beach Elks Club. Click here to register free or to get more information.

There Are No Accidents

Everyone and everything that shows up in our life is a reflection of something that is happening inside of us. All events and experiences in our field of awareness represent the ‘outpicturing’ of a feeling, belief or attitude we are holding. Thus we can use every event as a barometer of where we are on our path. We think in secret and it comes to pass; environment is but a looking glass.

This universal Law of Attraction means that we "hire" everyone in our play to act out the script we have written. This is why we experience repetitious patterns in relationship, work or health; different actors are showing up to play out the same role. Eventually we recognize that it cannot be an accident that the same types of people keep doing the same things; it is we who have drawn them according to the signals we are radioing to central casting.

The good news about the Law of Attraction is that the moment we change our mind, heart or attitude, the outer world must reflect it, often immediately. –Author Unknown

The Foundation From Which I Live
Over the last 20+ years while coaching people to create what they say they want, I have definitely incorporated this principle in my own life and offer it to all. For me, this is the backdrop; the foundation from which I live my life. Therefore, no matter what my results, and whatever occurs, I am clear that this is simply feedback for me. Please do not read in this that I am always ecstatic about my results. But I must say that approaching life from this perspective always allows me to experience being empowered regarding my life.

Living life intentionally truly means being willing to examine ourselves and what makes us tick. It embraces principles that support being in the “driver’s seat” of our lives. When I “get” that there are no accidents, everything that occurs and every result is accompanied with a lesson. If I am willing to examine and learn from what’s not working, I will be increasing my awareness level and consciousness. This, in turn, has me make more effective choices based on my declarations. As you may have read in my earlier columns, a necessary aspect of creating intention is committed action.

Creating Conscious Discipline
I read this amazing story in James Arthur Ray’s book, “Harmonic Wealth” that truly embodies the necessity of creating conscious discipline in having your dreams come true.

At the turn of the last century, a man named Ivy Lee met with Charles M. Schwab, president of Bethlehem Steel. His objective was to sell his services to Schwab and help him become more efficient. Schwab’s reaction was that his people already knew what they should be doing — his problem was just getting them to do it. As a result, Schwab wasn’t buying.

“Just suppose I could give you a tool, an action that would guarantee you’d become more efficient, you’d be interest, wouldn’t you?,” Lee asked. Seeing Schwab’s resistance, he said, “I’ll just give you the idea — use it for 21 days. If it works, send me a check for whatever you think it’s worth.” Schwab said okay and asked what is was.

“At the beginning of every single day, or better yet, at the end of the day before the following day, take out a piece of paper and

Get a Coach. Get Results!

I am frequently asked – so what is so important about having a coach and why the push to have others take action on their lives and their dreams now? My answer usually is “if not now, then when?” How long is anyone willing to wait to have the results, the relationships and the life they truly desire?

The true benefit of coaching is that it is ‘results-based’ and ‘action oriented’. How often do you catch-up with an old friend and realize they are talking about the same dream they spoke of when you were last together? And yet, here they are months – or sometimes even years later – and they are no closer to achieving their dream than they were when you first heard about it.

What Does a Coach Really Do?
A coach assists their client in creating results now by assisting them in experiencing:

1. Commitment to Purpose (why) and Vision (what). Many clients go immediately to the ‘how’ of achieving their dreams – they know what they want and immediately begin to look for how to get it. If the plan they have doesn’t work, they decide they can’t achieve it. A professional coach will find out what their client is really committed to. No dream is ever fulfilled without commitment and action. Assisting clients in creating clarity around purpose and vision first, and then moving forward to handle the ‘mechanics’ of goal setting and developing plans becomes easy.

2. There is No Failure, Just Feedback. All coaches know that once action is taken, whatever result is created, there is always a new place to learn. There is always an opportunity to get up and go again until the desired result is achieved. Most people at this point would quit without a coach. This is where the commitment of the coach to what the client has declared, will sustain the client in their continued commitment and work to overcome any barrier to success.

3. Recognition and awareness builds confidence. When we are confident that we can achieve, we are more likely to take risks and challenge ourselves. A professional coach assist clients to see new possibilities, execute with a clear plan and learn from their mistakes and their successes. The goal of a professional coach is that their client moves forward independently while successfully identifying new actions they can take to achieve the results they declare.

Now More Than Ever
Today, the profession of coaches is growing dramatically. Many coaches have more clients than ever before. These are challenging times in which many people have lost confidence, stopped taking risks and have given- up on realizing their dreams. Being a coach in today’s world is one of the most fulfilling ways to make a difference with others.

At Source Point Training and The Source Institute, new coaches in our Fundamentals and Mastery of Performance Coaching trainings, learn the skill of enrolling clients in true commitment, accepting all results they create and moving forward with confidence to realize their dreams.

Take action today to become a part of The Source Institute’s proven, masterful coach training. Join us in Fundamentals and Mastery of Performance Coaching to become a professional coach to assist others in creating the life of their dreams.
