What is the difference between a Life Coach
and a Performance Coach?

I am asked this question many times as people interview me on the possibility of becoming a professional coach.

Years ago, as a pioneer in the field of coaching, developing what would eventually become a recognized profession, I would olympics go out to various businesses to educate them on the value of coaching. I had spent 20 years in the corporate arena, attended many graduate-level courses through the years and worked with some of the top business educators. What I have seen is consultants who worked with my organization and others, with years of experience, offered great advice, reviewed our practices and procedures and introduced various new programs. My favorite was Managing By Objectives, introduced at that time by a leader of consultants --Lou Tice. Then of course we were introduced to Quality Time Management to improve initiative. Each one had some type of formula attached to it.

In the mid-80s, I began to wonder what it might look like if I worked with organizations and had questions for them, instead of answers. Of course I did my homework to understand their business model and gained experience in all facets of their business. But when it came to giving advice, I found a way to illuminate what I was seeing in their organization or in the communication within their organization. Together, we began to ask questions like: what if, how come, if this then what about that? As coach, I began what is now termed co-creation. From this, I saw that most of my clients looked to me to assist them to increase their performance, effectiveness and bottom line results. So I saw myself as a Performance Coach. This is the

So whats all this buzz about Boot Camp Coaching? Its an exciting and highly interactive session from Source Point Training that allows you to see and experience coaches in action. You leave with a clear plan of action for a challenging goal you are facing.

Source Point Training launched Boot Camp Coaching this month in Morgan Hill, California, and had so much fun meeting and working with all of those attending. Barbara Fagan worked with the group on leading from purpose, vision and accountability and then the Leadership Coaches worked with groups defining outcomes, identifying barriers and creating goals for moving forward. Everyone left with action steps for moving forward in realizing the outcome they wanted to create. The excitement was high. Great value, and fun, was created!

What we learned is everyone has something they want in life and dont always believe it can really be achieved. It is amazing what was created in two hours! The participants really took on tapping into their natural leadership and learned where they

metaphor

by Barbara Fagan

For years, people have challenged me to write a book. From my early days of coaching young business professionals, to coaching coaches and to facilitating leaders, there is one piece of consistent feedback that I have always received: Where did you come up with that metaphor?

It all goes back to when I was a kid, and before educators understood the impact of dyslexia in learning. When I was in the first grade I would actually break into a sweat (imagine a first grader sweating). I would worry all day about the moment I would be sitting in my reading circle with others taking turns reading aloud. Does this sound familiar to you? Soon, my teachers began to identify that I had a problem. My parents, like most parents, wanted to understand why their brilliant daughter was having such a hard time learning to read. So off I went to the eye doctor, the hearing doctor and the child counselors. No one could explain the problem. I began to think, I am stupid.

Eventually, I discovered a very effective strategy. If I could use a picture or an example that I could relate to and remember, then through association I could retain information. These skills grew and grew over the years. As a professional, I was drawn to marketing and strategic thinking, which is where I could make it all up. As I developed my skills as a coach and worked in many different business environments with professionals in different roles, and levels of professional development, I

What is Intentionality?
We live in the most exciting time in world history. Right now. This is the time when spiritual traditions and scientific findings have stopped opposing one another and have become sister studies. The quantum physicists, the chaos theorists and the biologists of today are the mystics of the twenty-first century, proving the timeless truths those mystics and spiritual leaders have been teaching us since the beginning of time. Its happening through hard scientific evidence.

Modern science proves that everything in our world is comprised of energy -- everything! What appears to be solid your house, car, dog, even your body at the quantum level is 99.99999 percent energy or light. All energy vibrates (vibrational) and we call that frequency. What this truly means is that youll never create high-energy results from a low-energy vessel.

Like Attracts Like
Are you ready to give up the age old belief that life is a struggle? You have probably heard of the Law of Attraction. Films like What the Bleep or The Secret talk about this law. I found myself excited by both, and yet felt that this might easily be construed as wishful, magical thinking. The law simply states that like vibrations are attracted to each other, and dissimilar vibrations repel. So, youll never attract prosperity in your life if youre constantly sending out vibration waves of poverty and lack.

Now, I am no scientist so am not able to report chapter and verse how this works. However, I am clear that I can choose to approach and create my life from this purposeful context. I would love to be able to sit in a meditative pose, simply imagine my fabulous life and poof it just happens! Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) thats not how it occurs. I would also assert that most of us dont really want to live mediocre lives. However, it is so easy to simply stay in our comfort zone and keep doing what weve always been doing and getting what weve always gotten.

Doing Things Differently
Our current level of results including our appearance, bank account, house, car, relationships, joy or lack of, etc., are simply a mirror of what we have been putting out. Now, a mirror doesnt judge, doesnt say its good or bad, doesnt edit or delete it just reflects back what is put forth. Most of what we have been putting out is unconscious unintentional, if you will. Therefore, if we want our lives to be different, then we must be willing to get out of our comfort zone and do things differently.

I stand in the belief that every human being matters, makes a difference, is a unique contribution and is authentically magnificent. We all deserve to live the life we love.

Living Life Intentionally requires being now what we envision for ourselves and our lives. Stay tuned for more

One of the core elements that support business to run effectively is the accountability level of the members. The same can be true in other groups: families, volunteers, organizations or sports teams. Since accountability is so important, lets examine what accountability is and look at why so many struggle with being accountable.

Accountability is being the source of everything, choosing to act and owning ones results, with no reasons, stories or excuses. Simply put -- accountability is being able to account for the choices you have made or are making that has you experiencing the results that you have. Accountability is about choice.

Its easy to be accountable when things are good -- like completing the report ahead of time or bringing the project in early. We can puff-out our chest and let everyone know what choices we made to assist us in being ahead of the game. However, unforeseen circumstances (that were out of our control) often come up and get in our way of accomplishing what we said we would do. This can lead to a round of The Blame Game. This game allows us to use those circumstances as excuses for causing us, for example, to arrive at work late, to miss an appointment or not get the report completed by the deadline. When we go into this mindset, we go into react and defend mode, another place on the game board. Then we draw the card that allows us to become the victim of our circumstances. As the victim, we get to react and defend. Whereas those who move to the accountable people place on the board, choose to create and act, and are always the winner.

Victims feel that they have no choice and are powerless to see any other
