Message to dad Everyone thinks that mom is my culinary inspiration because one of my signature dishes, Mama Laura's Chicken, is based on her classic. But, believe it or not old man (old man is the nickname my dad and I use to lovingly refer to each other), you -- a true food alchemist -- are my culinary inspiration. I love you. -- Chef Tee

What Makes A Dad? Author Unknown
God took the strength of a mountain, The
majesty of a tree, The warmth of a summer sun, The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature, The comforting arm of night, The wisdom
of the ages, The power of the eagle's flight, The joy of a morning in
spring, The faith of a mustard seed, The patience of eternity, The
depth of a family need, Then God combined these qualities, When there
was nothing more to add, He knew His masterpiece was complete, And so,
He called it ... Dad

Culinary Tips of the Week

Brian Reeve, Home Cook
Clean your home with vodka -- vodka is a great household
cleaner. It's odorless, non-toxic and leaves metal
fixtures sparkling clean. It's also great for bathtubs and tile
floors. Just make sure you use the cheap stuff and save the expensive vodka for drinking.

How to keep your vegetables crisp, tender and
colorful? -- Blanch them. This is a
technique that requires you to cook the vegetables in hot water for a few
minutes then plunge them into ice water.
Click here to see what I mean. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Chef Lauren Von Der Pool, Vegan/Raw Food Cuisine ExpertPanko bread crumbs -- These Japanese bread crumbs are large,
airy flakes that are crispier, crunchier, and don't absorb as much oil as standard
bread crumbs. I use them in vegan crab
cakes and sprinkle them on top of mac n' cheese. I also use them as coating for my crispy deep fried string beans. Be creative. Panko bread crumbs are available at most grocery stores.
