Von Der Pool (pictured on the left in beige) showed 200 kindergartners how to make strawberry smoothies. Click here for the recipe.
The chef also talked about the importance of smart food choices and how what the students eat affects them and the planet.

Culinary Tips of the Week
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Brian Reeve, Home Cook
Clean your refrigerator coils -- You should do this twice a
year to help keep your frig in top shape.
Just vacuum the condenser coils located underneath the
refrigerator. Use a long, nozzle vacuum
attachment to do this. I suggest more
frequent cleanings if you have pets because pet hairs tend to pile up. Your refrigerator will run more efficiently which will ultimately save you money.
Chef "Tee" Terrell Danley, Restaurant Owner/Consultant
Pork roast vs. pork cutlet vs. pork chop -- Do you know the
difference? Most folks are not familiar
with a pig's anatomy. Click here to
see me illustrate the difference, so you'll be informed the next time you go
shopping. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Chef Lauren Von Der Pool, Vegan/Raw Food Cuisine ExpertNutritional yeast -- You know something is good for you when it
has the name "nutritional" in it. This is
a non-active yeast full of protein and vitamins. I love it because it adds a wonderful nutty
and cheesy flavor to dishes. It comes in
flakes and powder form. I often add a
little to salads, casseroles, soups and pasta. Sprinkle some on popcorn or garlic bread. Nutritional yeast is available at health food
stores. Learn more about Von Der Pool's exotic vegan and raw food cuisine at vonderpoolgourmet.com.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Do you have a culinary question or tip to share? |
