Chef "Tee" Terrell Danley on Food Network Soon!
Competes in intense food challenge
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chef "Tee" Terrell DanleyChef Tee will represent Washington, DC in an upcoming episode of Food Network's Chefs vs. City.  The program, which recently shot at secret locations in the District, is scheduled to air on August 27, 2010, at 10 p.m.
Chefs vs. City pits two local culinary professionals in an adventurous race around their city against Food Network Chefs Aaron Sanchez and Chris Cosentino.  Chef Tee's partner will be Bar Owner Ryan Gordon.
Some past contestants have milked goats, eaten pigs' blood, stomped grapes, made cocktails in below freezing temperatures and removed honey combs from active bee hives. The teams don't know their tasks until competition day.  Their guides are clues they get along the way.  The prize--bragging rights for DC!
Chef Tee's restaurant Brightwood Bistro and Gordon's Bar The Pug will be featured on the show.
Since the race is in their town, the local competitors have the advantage of knowing how to get around the city.  Despite that, Sanchez and Cosentino, who have competed in several places including Miami, Chicago, Los Angeles and Atlanta, have beaten some of the hometown guys.  DC native Chef Tee says he wasn't worried because he and Northern Virginia Native Gordon are used to working together under pressure.  Gordon used to be a bartender at Chef Tee's restaurant Creme Cafe and Lounge.  Also, Chef Tee boasts that nobody knows DC like they do.
"I don't plan to lose, and I don't intend to lose," he said confidently before the race, then added with a smile, "I'm looking forward to having a good time."
See how Chef Tee and Gordon did when the competition airs in August.  Starting June 18, 2010, you can watch Chef vs. City every Friday at 10 p.m. on Food Network.
Go team DC!
How to easily peel a hard-boiled egg -- Are you tired of the shell sticking to your hard-boiled egg?  Here's the solution.  Start with a fresh egg.  As soon as it is boiled, plunge it into ice cold water.  Gently pat it dry with a towel.  Then crack the shell on the wide bottom part of the egg where the air pocket is located and start peeling from there. The peel should come right off.
Sprouting garbanzo beans aka chickpeas -- Sprouting turns garbanzo beans into super food!  This versatile legume is rich in protein and fiber, and its nutritional value is even higher when it sprouts.  Eat it in dips, salads and soups.  Serve it with pasta or add your favorite herbs and eat it as a snack.  The sprouting process is fun and easy.  Click on The Daily Raw Café blog to see what to do.
