Pasta rut? -- The holidays are over, so forget about the turkey and open your pasta mind. Spaghetti is fine, but there are many other options available; angel hair, linguine, ziti, penne, just to name a few. Also, consider whole wheat pasta as an alternative. Its slight nutty taste adds great flavor.

Finishing oils -- Extra virgin olive oil, sesame oil, truffle oil and other flavored oils are finishing oils. That means you do not use them for cooking. You pour them on to dishes just before serving to add flavor.

Eat raw to help lose those extra holiday pounds -- Raw foods energize the body, mind and spirit. Their vitamins, enzymes and minerals are more potent and nutritious than cooked dishes. In addition to weight loss, studies show that raw food benefits include treating everything from body odor, acne and arthritis to cancer and menstrual cramps.
