Bring on the Summer!
School is out -and you can tell it at Wesley House! Our last day of after school programming was full of fun, celebration of accomplishments, laughter and love. We are so proud of each and every one of our kids. So many did so well academically, but all improved throughout the school year. They made better grades, learned better coping skills, and show more respect in their words and actions.

During the most recent grading period:
  • 79% of our kids made the honor roll
  • 13 children improved in math
  • 27 children improved in reading

Thank you for supporting our work that helps inner city children achieve academic success. You make a difference!

 

Our full-day summer program begins June 1. We're going to be full of activities to continue to change lives. Be a part of our work! Contact us to ask how.

How Can I Help?

 

We are so lucky to have so many people who care about the kids at Wesley House. Actually, our kids are the lucky ones! So what can you do to help this summer? See the list below for ways to be involved and make a difference

  • Gather friends or co-workers and prepare and serve lunch to the 60 kids in our summer program. We need lunches on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays  in June and July. Lunch is served around noon. Call us at 524-5494 for dates or email us.
  • Sponsor a trip for our kids to Tuckaleechee Caverns! The cost involves admission and bus rental (60 kids). Total expense is $640. Hold a car wash, pass a basket during your Bible study, or get together with a few friends to make this happen.
  • Spend some time with our kids. Our summer program is all day, Monday - Friday. We have 60 kids who want to play, learn, and know about life beyond our neighborhood. Call us at 524-5494 to talk about spending time with our kids.

 Camp Wesley Woods 

Ten of our kids are going to Camp Wesley Woods for the week of June 19-24. What a blessing for them! We need some supplies for them:

Water Shoes (call for sizes)

Water bottles

Insect repellant (lotion or mist, no aerosols)

Ponchos

Postcards/stamps

Sun screen

Pocket flashlights

Dirty clothes bags

tablescapes 2011 table

 

Tablescapes 2011 was a huge success! Nearly 275 people gathered the day before Mother's Day for a luncheon, silent auction and performances by the Wesley House kids and seniors. Thanks to all of our table sponsors and decorators for a beautiful day! Click here to see photos of all 33 tables.
