Lions, Tigers and Bears!
The week of March 29 is Animal Week at the Wesley House. During Knox County's Spring Break, Wesley House participants will be learning about animals they will be tested on for Knox County's TCAPs.  The kids will research and learn about animals from many different environments, participate in crafts and create presentations to share at the end of the week.  To wrap up this fun week, Wesley House kids will take a special field trip to the Knoxville Zoo!
Triple Word Score
Wesley House kids now have another outlet for fun after school.  Every Tuesday, those that have completed their homework have the opportunity to participate in Scrabble Club.

Sue Biggerstaff, who created the club, used Scrabble as a teaching tool before retiring from teaching 5th grade at A.L. Lotts Elementary.  Joining her as leaders in the club are former librarian Rosanna Royal and Susie Boggs, who also taught 5th grade.

In addition to having fun, the aim of Scrabble Club is to improve thinking skills, teach prefixes and suffixes, and help kids to build their vocabulary.
Senior Lunches Needed
Wesley House is looking for volunteers to provide lunches for our Senior program on the following dates: March 19th, May 7th, and May 14th.  If you would like to help us meet this need, or for more information, please contact Sharon at 524.5494.

"I want to say
thank you for the scholarship.  Wesley House
has been such
a positive
experience for
my grandson."

This sincere note came from a grandmother who is raising one of our Wesley House participants.

This past fall we had a record high for families needing scholarship assistance to our program.  If you are willing to help fund a partial or full scholarship for a child, please contact us at 524.5494.
