Big Help in a Small Package
Wesley House would like to extend a very gracious thank you to Natalie Vaughn, who, at only six years old, has shown that it's never too early to have a passion for giving.
While attending a WISE (Wellness in Senior Education) luncheon, Natalie overheard that Wesley House had a need for juice boxes. So Natalie approached her pastor at Norwood United Methodist Church, and arranged to speak before the congregation to ask for the church's help. Not long after, Natalie had collected 2,300 juice boxes! When Natalie and her parents dropped off the donation, she said "When you get down to 20 juice boxes, call us, we'll get you more!" Thank you so much to Natalie, parents Phil & Sharon, and the congregation of Norwood United Methodist Church!

The Proof is in the Grades Wesley House is proud to announce that 80 percent of students enrolled in our after-school program achieved honor roll status, with over 56 percent achieving first honors! This achievement represents an all time high for students at Wesley House.
"Academic success and an interest in learning are both key to a child's future," says Program Director Kari Larkin. "This really shows that our program counselors and volunteers are making a difference. We have the results to prove it, and I'm very proud of that." |
Wesley House Introduces New Incentive Program
At the start of this year, Wesley House put into motion a new incentive program.
Each child at Wesley House will receive beads to put on a keychain for different positive achievements. Some achievements include showing GREAT behavior, helping a peer or staff member, keeping the environment around Wesley House clean, good sportsmanship, and receiving 1st or 2nd honors on a report card.
At the end of each month we will hold an award ceremony and each child will receive their beads. When the program wraps up, at the end of the semester, each child will get to take their keychain with them, and the child with the most beads will win a special prize. We hope this new program will continue to encourage team work, good behavior and volunteerism! |

Listen Up!

"I am so thankful for the extra effort that Wesley House puts forth, because I am a big believer in having support and the saying 'It takes a village to raise a child."
We were recently rewarded with an e-mail full of thanks from this Wesley House parent. After enrolling her boys at Wesley House, she saw an improvement in both grades and reading level!
