Art Exhibit at the Library
Art Exhibits
Scott Sager grew up on the coast of Maine and was interested in pursuing art at a young age. He started painting some of the local scenes while still in High School.  He earned his BS from the Art Department of Skidmore College and later studied at the School of Visual Arts in NYC.  His career has been spent as an art director/creative director at numerous large advertising agencies in New York, solving creative challenges for many large blue-chip corporations.  A few years ago, he decided to apply his over 25 years of design and conceptual artistic experience back into the watercolor medium.

Scott currently lives in Chappaqua, New York.  Most of his paintings are of New England, as well as upstate New York.  His desire is not to abstract the natural beauty in any way, but to try and capture it in as natural and believable way as possible.

Price list is available at the circulation desk.

The library is looking for exhibitors for the art gallery in 2012. If interested, please contact Belinda, our volunteer exhibit coordinator at somersartgallery@wlsmail.org.  You may send up to 3 samples of artwork to this email account.

Rita's Reviews

RabbiRita Cohent Proof Fence is based on a true story about aborigine girls facing a racist program in western Australia in 1931. Girls that are of mixed race are forcibly removed from their families and sent to a settlement camp hundreds of miles away. Eventually, they are integrated into families as servants and farm laborers. The girls escape from the settlement and set on foot out to go back home. They flee into the woods on a three month journey during which time a manhunt for the girls is set into motion. This story is very moving and shows the will of a young girl determined to be free. It also portrays a part of history that is unknown to many Americans. I thought the acting and story were well done, and I highly recommend it for viewing.
