ThankTroops

Thanks to You.....

This month's Community Outreach project, Thanking the Troops, was a great success due to the gifts of your time and generosity.  Sixteen care packages filled with donated supplies were sent to U.S. troops stationed in Afghanistan, along with upwards of 300 handwritten letters from Lenski students and their families!  A great big Thank You goes out to everyone who partipated in this year's project, with special thanks to Cady Collins and Colleen Currie for sorting, boxing, and mailing the supplies.

While on the subject of generosity and gratitude, just a reminder that December's Community Outreach project, Holiday Outreach, is underway!  Please consider a donation to this program (any amount is so appreciated!) which directly benefits those in the Lenski community who are in need of some assistance this holiday season...

Holiday Outreach

The Spirit of the Season!

The holidays are fast approaching, and it's time once again for Lenski's Holiday Outreach program, which helps families in need in the Lenski community.  This year the need is even greater than in years past, so please consider a donation to the program.  Your donation of cash or gift card(s), no matter the size, can really make a difference this holiday season.  Donations will be collected from now until December 7.

Your donations can be dropped off in the school office (look for the gift-wrapped donation box) or sent to school in your child's folder in an envelope marked Holiday Outreach.  Please make checks out to Lois Lenski PTO. These donations will be collected from now until December 7.  Thank you for your generosity, which will bring some holiday cheer to those in the community who most need it!

New Library System Upgrade

As the Fall semester draws to a close, our Library and Media Services are being prepared for an important upgrade over the Winter Break to the new Follett Destiny Library Manager.  Our current system is over 20 years old and has served its useful lifespan in service to LPS. Library staff across the district are preparing for the transition to "go live" with the new system in January.

All school library circulation desks will be closed on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012 as we finalize training and activate the new database.  After that, teachers, students and parents alike will be able to use this new online library system both at school and at home.

To help facilitate the move to Follett Destiny, we are asking students to return all Lenski library books by Friday, December 9th.  This is a great opportunity to explore the public library.  The Arapahoe Library District has numerous offerings at this time of year including book clubs, special programs, and holiday fun for the entire family.  Visit www.arapahoelibraries.org to find out more.

KingSoops

Record-Breaking for King Soopers Card Reloads!

Remarkable reloading by Lenski friends and family led to a new record! In early November, we received a check for more than $2,900 from King Soopers, the result of nearly $60,000 in gas, grocery and gift card purchases.  Thank you, everyone who contributed to the 355 total reloads and big check!

Please also welcome Lenski teachers and staff to the program.  They received cards during Teacher Appreciation week, and we look forward to topping last month's terrific fundraising with their participation.
If you need a new card, please stop by the lobby of the school between 8:15 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8.  There, you can pay by cash or check for a card with $2.50 or $25.00 face amount. Or, simply print an order form here.  Checks should be payable to Lois Lenski PTO and can be delivered via backpack mail to the office.  The card will come home via your child's backpack.

 LunchThankyou

A Special Thank You to the Lenski Ladies' Luncheon Participants

Sponsors, donors and attendees, thank you for making the Lenski Ladies' Luncheon a great success!  On the Thursday before Thanksgiving Break, 100 Lenski parents and guests gathered at Venice restaurant for a delicious lunch, an engaging speaker and an awesome raffle draw.  On behalf of the PTO, thank you to everyone who participated at any level in the 2011 Lenski Ladies' Luncheon.

Yearbook

Yearbook Needs Your Photos...

Have you attended one of your kids' school activities and captured some great photos?  Please send us your photos for consideration in the yearbook.  We especially need photos from activities like art, music, band, chess club, spelling B's, math club, scouting, show stoppers/show kids, etc., but we'll take any great shots. Uploading photos is easy.  Click here for instructions.

VolThanks

Our Students Say Thank You to All of the Lenski Volunteers Who Give Their Time Every Day!

Volunteers Thank You

Snowflakes Melt Alone...but together they can stop traffic!

As we enter into this season of being grateful, please take a moment to pause in Lenski's lobby and read the handwritten name of volunteers on snowflakes and hearts.  Students in grades K-5 want to thank our many volunteers who make a difference every day at Lenski!  Mim Lyles has put together a stunning display showing that your volunteering really does impact the lives of Lenski students!

Thank you from your VIPS team.
