A Walk in the Woods

Saturday, October 16, 9:00am - 1:00pm
CLT owned Buff Property

Join John Cely as he takes us on an easy walk on the beautiful 30-acre parcel of green space that was donated to CLT by retired professor Dr. L.H. Buff. This tract has hardwood ravines reminiscent of the mountains and foot hills featuring various oaks, hickories, and beech as well as a headwater stream of the Saluda River that runs through it. There are also big-leaf magnolia and tulip poplar specimens. Some of the uplands were former pasture land and two ancient longleaf pine stumps indicate an active turpentine industry here 100-150 years ago. This will be a nice opportunity to examine some of South Carolina's wonderful plant diversity.

The property is located off of Hwy 378 near I-20. Directions and further details will be emailed the week of the outing.
