IDOT MIDLOTHIAN ROAD PROJECT |
The State (IDOT) began the Midlothian Road project today, August 4th, 2011
The on again off again Midlothian Road re-surfacing project is definitely ON AGAIN!
Starting today, August 4th, the States' road contractor will spend a few days milling the roadway between Old McHenry Rd. and Gilmer Rd. They will then begin the patch and pave process. Upon completion of this phase, they will move to the Midlothian Rd. section between Gilmer Rd. and IL Rte.176 and do the same thing. The plan is to complete the whole project (Midlothian Rd. from Old McHenry Rd. to IL Rte. 176) by the end of October.
The county is in the process of finishing up the paving of Gilmer Rd. (from Diamond Lake Rd. to Hawley Rd.). This project was delayed due to the numerous storms we had, but is expected to be completed by the middle of the month. Lake County DOT is trying to get it completed as quickly as possible so they minimize the impact to the motoring public.
I travel Midlothian Rd. almost daily and experienced delays in both directions today. Obviously I'll have to plan additional time for my commute and encourage you to do the same - - - if you can't bypass the situation altogether. I look forward to the new, improved road once it's completed! It should make traveling to Waukegan a bit easier this winter. |
