JULY 11th STORM DAMAGE ASSESSMENT INFORMATION REQUEST

Damage Assessment from July 11 Storm Underway

Lake County local government agencies are conducting a damage assessment as a result of the July 11 wind storm and compiling costs associated with response efforts. Depending on the extent of the damage, the governor can request a federal disaster declaration and seek public assistance from FEMA that will be used to reimburse these agencies. Once the threshold for public assistance is met, then individual assistance (to help private homes and businesses impacted by the storm) may become available. At this time, it doesn't appear that this event will meet the threshold for individual assistance.

Residents can report damage to private property to their local municipality. Unincorporated Lake County residents can report damage to Lake County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) at 847-377-7100. This should include structural damage, and not damage to trees, fences, porches, decks, pools, cars, trucks, sheds, garages, or loss of food caused by the power outage.

For more information, contact Lake County EMA at 847-377-7100.
