Watch Video from Illinois Tollway's "Capital Planning Forum" |
The Tollway recently held a forum in Lake County to collect input into its 10-year capital plan. At the meeting, Lake County elected officials and regional stakeholders shared their input on extending Route 53. You can listen to that discussion in this video . The public can also provide input on the Tollway's website here . |
County Posts Checks on Website |
In an effort to enhance transparency about its budget and expenditures, Lake County government is now posting monthly expense reports that show payments for all goods and services. The reports can be found here: http://www.lakecountyil.gov/Finance/Pages/Monthly-Expense-Reports.aspx .
County Board Chairman David Stolman said, "Lake County continues to use technology to improve transparency and boost taxpayer accountability. Now, the public can easily access our monthly expenditures and see every check that is written. The public can also view our budget, performance information, and financial statements, watch county board meetings and other videos, sign up for news and information from their board member, and much more!"
Lake County's website ranks among the most transparent government websites in America according to Sunshine Review, a non-profit organization dedicated to government transparency. Lake County received a "Sunny Award" in 2011 and 2010 and an "A" transparency grade out of 5,000 government websites. The Sunny Award is based on a "Transparency Checklist" for websites that have information about budgets, meetings, officials, permits and zoning, contracts, lobbying, public records, and taxes. |
Lake County Respite Cooling Centers |
Extreme heat is expected over the next few days and many local jurisdictions have opened cooling centers to provide a safe place for residents to get out of the heat. For the list of cooling centers, please visit www.lakecountyil.gov . This list may change as more centers are opened, so please check this site frequently. (Please note: These centers are not shelters. Food, showers, and beds are not available). |
Lake Zurich Lions Club presents:
Alpine Fest - July 22 - 24 | It began in the summer of 1942, partly in celebration of the victories of World War II, volunteer and service organizations came together to establish what we know today as Alpine Fest™. The Lions Club with it's newly established park in downtown Lake Zurich afforded a prime location for this event.
Over the years, as more and more people became active in the Lions Club, the carnival grew. Today the event is bigger and better than ever, drawing more than 10,000 people to the park for the three days of carnival rides, games, food, family events and entertainment. The final day of the festival includes the Alpine Fest™ Parade down Main Street is the largest parade in Lake County. It is also the biggest single event of the year in Lake Zurich.
Conducting this festival on the third weekend in July each year requires an enormous amount of planning, a major financial investment in food, bands, tents, and carnival entertainment, it also requires the dedicated time of Lake Zurich Lions Club members and hundreds of other volunteers from the community.
