County Board Chairman to Serve as Co-Chair of Illinois Route 53 Blue Ribbon Advisory Council |
More than 100 people attended the Illinois Tollway's "Capital Planning Forum" in Lake County on July 15 and shared comments on the future of Route 53 with Tollway Executive Director Kristi Lafleur. The public can still provide input into the Tollway's 10-year capital plan on its website (www.illinoistollway.com).
The Tollway is considering the Route 53 extension as a priority capital project, and it has created the "Illinois Route 53 Blue Ribbon Advisory Council" to develop a regional consensus on whether to move forward with the project. County Board Chairman David Stolman and George Ranney, President and CEO of Metropolis Strategies and Prairie Holdings Corporation, will co-chair the council and make recommendations to the Tollway Board of Directors within one year. View press release, including the list of members appointed to the advisory council.
"I am excited about co-chairing the Illinois Route 53 Blue Ribbon Advisory Council to study the future of developing an Illinois Route 53 north extension through Lake County," said Advisory Council Co-chair David Stolman, Lake County Board Chairman. "This project will improve our economy, reduce traffic congestion, and improve the quality of life for residents throughout Lake County."
