I hope to see you at Alpine Fest at some point this weekend. Make sure and come to the parade on Sunday which is billed as the biggest and best in Lake County! I'll be passing out candy and small American Flags so please take this opportunity to say "Hi"!

Next week the Lake County Fair kicks off. It's an easy drive from our area - - straight up Midlothian Rd. - - and takes about 20 to 30 minutes to get there.

Feel free to forward this newsletter. It's a great way to keep everyone up to date on County news and local events while helping me "GO GREEN". If you have any comments, suggestions or questions, please call or email me.

Lake County Fair

The Lake County Fair will run from July 27 through August 1 this year.  I received questions about the fair and I wanted to let you know that the fair has no association with Lake County Government.  It is actually within the Village of Grayslake and under their jurisdiction.

The location for the fair is on the corner of Peterson Rd. and Midlothian Rd. in Grayslake, IL. I am forwarding the information so that you are aware of noise and traffic issues next week.

Tax Free School Supplies August 6 - 15

Legislation has been enacted to create an annual state sales tax holiday for clothing and school supplies. Local and home rule sales taxes will still apply to all items.
From August 6 until August 15, residents will be able to purchase back-to-school items and only pay local sales tax. The five percent that typically goes to the state will be waived for these nine days.Books

Traditional school supplies such as paper, notebooks, writing instruments and other office-type materials will be subject to the sales tax break.

The tax holiday also applies to clothing items under $100 such as shoes, tops, bottoms, underwear and outerwear. Some specific items like school uniforms and limited athletic apparel are also on the approved list of sales tax holiday items.
I hope you are able to take advantage of this opportunity.
