I want to wish everyone a safe and fun filled Memorial Day weekend! I have the honor of marching in the Lake Zurich Memorial Day Parade with the American Legion. Keep in mind this is a solemn occasion to honor our military. Also keep in mind I haven't marched or fired a rifle since my Air Force basic training back in the 60s which may prove interesting..
For those of you that use Old McHenry Road for your travels, please keep in mind it WILL indeed be closed as noted below. There's also the sewer construction on Midlothion Road and it's the last week of school which means the planned detour route is going to be problematic as well. Please drive carefully and plan ahead!
Please feel free to forward this newsletter. It's a great way to keep everyone up to date on County news and local events. If you have any comments, suggestions or questions, please call or email me.
My contact information if you need to reach me by phone is:

I consider it an honor and privilege to serve you!
Thanks!

OLD McHENRY ROAD CROSSING
JUNE 1, 2010 TO JUNE 8, 2010
Old McHenry Road (County Route V-77) will be closed to through traffic, from Quentin Road (County Route V-62) to Midlothian Road, by the Lake County Division of Transportation to accommodate the installation of a new rubber crossing at the railroad crossing by the Canadian National Railroad. The Canadian National Railroad will take out the existing rubber crossing installed in 2000 and replace it with a new full depth rubber crossing.
Local traffic will be allowed from Quentin Road west to the closed crossing and from Midlothian Road east to the closed crossing. No traffic will be allowed to use the crossing while the Canadian National Railroad is completing their repairs.
The signed detour route will be Midlothian Road, to Illinois Route 22 (Half Day Road), to Quentin Road (County Route V-62).

Memorial Day Parade |
Monday, May 31, 2010
Lake Zurich will hold its Annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 31, 2010. The parade steps off at 10:00 AM, beginning at the Lake Zurich American Legion Post, 51 Lions Drive (by Village Hall), proceeding to Main St., on to Old Rand Rd. and ending at the Veterans Memorial on Mohawk Trail (by the Police Facility). Participants in the parade include Veterans, US Navy Color Guard, Boy and Girl Scout troops, Fire, Police, EMS, the LZ High School Band and many other groups.
Please join in honoring our countries fallen heroes, the men and women in our armed forces serving today and our Veterans that have bravely served in the past. Following the parade there will be a ceremony held at the Veterans Memorial paying respect to our men and women in uniform that have made and continue to make our nation the land of the free and the home of the brave! |
Old McHenry Resurfacing Project |
The contractor for the upcoming Old McHenry Road resurfacing project will take advantage of the railroad road closure to begin the resurfacing work on Old McHenry Road between Midlothian Road and Quentin Road on June 1st. Doing so will help to minimize the inconvenience to motorists from the two projects at that location.
The Old McHenry Road resurfacing project from US Route 12 to Quentin Road should take a total of six to eight weeks to complete and be finished by early August. Impacts to traffic will be limited to intermittent temporary lane closures while paving crews are working. |
