Intercessory Prayer in the Fourth Day

"I ask the glorious Father and God of our Lord Jesus Christ to give you His Spirit". Eph 1:17

Many Pescadores have an active prayer life and regularly intercede for the needs of others as they become known to them. Others pray, but sometimes find it hard to do so. The needs are so great and they lack clarity on what to pray for in any given situation. My dad, as an example at 84, finds it is difficult to regularly participate in the life and activity of the church he has served for so many years. Yet he knows how to pray and has been doing so for over 70 years. Many intercessors know that they can bring spiritual resources to the people they seek to help.

The apostle Paul understood that the cornerstone of all prayer was to ask the Father to continually empower believers with the promised Holy Spirit. It was not just a prayer to bless them or to meet a financial need or to heal them or even make them happy, no he prayed that they might have life in the fullness of His spirit who is powerfully effective to carry the believer through any circumstance they might face. It would be from this reality that those he cared for in Ephesus would find the power to withstand temptation, witness to their faith, gift them to be effective in ministry and deepen the solidarity of the church.

So, in our Fourth Day give the people you pray for the thing they need the most. The power and presence of Holy Spirit flowing through them in all they say and do. There is no more encouraging and necessary prayer we can pray.

DeColores,

Bill

PROPOSED TDNG BY-LAW CHANGE

The following is a proposed change to the Tres Dias of North Georgia By-Laws:

Remove sub-section item 6.15.2 from the Constitution and By-laws of TDNG, and renumber the remaining sub-section items (6.15.3 through 6.15.7 will become 6.15.2 through 6.15.6) in that sub-section.

The current item reads:

6.15.2 Personal Palanca. Provide for a means of collecting and delivering personal Palanca to the candidates and team for each Weekend.

This is an unnecessary statement, since the responsibility of sponsors and other contributors of Palanca of any type is to take it to Send Off or to Serenade.  May we also take this opportunity to remind new Pescadores that individual Palanca is only allowed for team members.  Candidate Palanca must be in sufficient quantities for all Candidates.  This does not apply to a gift for a Candidate if it will go in the Sunday Bag.

If you have any questions or comments, please contact George Flury at [email protected]

SECRETARIAT POSTIONS OPEN

Please Pray and Act as God Leads

In the past few months, God has placed the call to serve on a number of couples and individuals who have taken up the mantle of servant leadership on the Tres Dias of North Georgia Secretariat.  As Administrative Assistant to our Chairman, I have been charged with leadership development, so I am most grateful to those who have taken these positions.

Now, we have several more positions to fill.  The term of service is 3 years for each position and officially begins in January 2012.  Last year, the Secretariat approved a method for smoother transitions that involves voting for replacements at the two and a half year point of incumbents to allow for training of the incoming couple or individual.  To that end, we will be looking for nominees for the following positions prior to the June Secretariat Meeting on Monday, June 20th:

Chairman (Must have served as a Rector in the TDNG Community, have previously served on the Secretariat,  and must demonstrate committee leadership capabilities and organizational skills)

Women's Leader - Omega (Must have served as a Rector in the TDNG Community)

Men's Leader - Alpha (Must have served as a Rector in the TDNG Community)

Food Management Couple - Omega

Pre-Weekend Couple - Omega

If you would like to nominate anyone (self-nomination is allowed) for Secretariat service, please contact Bill Furr ([email protected]) or me ([email protected]).

In Christ's Lavish Love,

George Flury

REUNION GROUPS

This is reprinted from an article from Northern Virginia Tres Dias:

The importance of being in a reunion group, as an essential for our Christian growth, cannot be over communicated. The reunion group is where we find encouragement and personal insights and prayers for the issues in our lives. Without close relationships with several other men or women on a regular basis, we will remain in isolation making little progress to find what it means to have a dependant and meaningful relationship with our Lord. Isolation with our thoughts, problems and fears is one of our Adversaries greatest weapons.

If we want to see the importance of having others around us we need to only look to see the example Christ showed us. As he began to share the love of his Father with the world he chose 12 men to walk with him daily. If Christ Himself knew the importance of having men around him why do we continue to try to live the Christian life alone?

I've come to believe it's because of our fears of what others think and don't really want to hear what others might think. We fear rejection, which is the very reason why Adam and Eve hid from God. The main reason Christ came was to reconnect man back into a relationship with his Father and to remove them from a system that focused on their performance as a way to be accepted. Because of our relationship with Christ, we know the love of the Father and unknowingly He has placed into us the desire for meaningful relationship with those who are precious to Him.

The Tres Dias Weekends and Reunion Groups are our opportunity to reveal His life to those who are looking for Him and one another. This is why the Reunion Group is important. Our time together is a reminder of our Fathers love and acceptance of us in our daily lives.

If you aren't in a group I'd encourage you to seek one out or start one yourself and ask those men or women who are precious to you to join you for a time together with Him. You will be blessed by taking this next step to know Him on a more personal way.

REPORT FROM DENMARK TRES DIAS

At the Assing Molleby Retreat Center in Denmark, 24 March through 3 April 2011, Our Lord rained "reigned"  down His AMAZING GRACE, POWER, LOVE, CONVICTION, FORGIVENESS, AND HEALING!!   We saw, felt and heard 'THE JOY BEYOND" as is promised in Romans 8:18 and James 1:2-4.  Our brothers and sisters encountered the presence of our Lord and God's will was established.

I AM OVERWHELMED WITH JOY AND PRAISE TO OUR LORD FOR HIS MIGHTY WORKS.   We saw wounds, anger, bitterness, and sin put under Christ's blood.  His glory was revealed on the faces  also with much laughter, worship , dancing, and hugs expressing  gratitude for new freedom, healing, resurrection,  purpose, and peace with God.

GOD IS DEFINITELY ABLE TO DO INFINITELY MORE THAN WE COULD EVER ASK OR IMAGINE!!! The Kingdom in Denmark now has many more overcomers!

WE CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT LUKE 4:18 IS ABSOLUTELY TRUE.  We were blessed to be part of bringing thru Him the annointing, good news, feedom from captivity, oppression and darkness to Denmark thru HIS Spirit and the mighty tool of TRES DIAS.

Bless yall for your service, donations, gifts, banners, letters and prayers!

AUGUSTA STATE MEDICAL PRISON KAIROS ANNIVERSARY

The Augusta State Medical Prison Kairos Family is sponsoring a 25th Anniversary Banquet to recognize twenty-five years of Kairos at the Augusta Correctional Medical Institution/ Augusta State Medical Prison (ACMI/ASMP).  There have been a number of people who have participated at KAIROS events at ACMI/ASMP over the years and they have been supplemented greatly by individuals who have come from the Outside Walk Communities.  Until the recent past, before an individual could participate in Kairos he/she had to complete an outside walk.  We are inviting persons who have participated with us at ACMI/ASMP and those who might be interested in becoming a part of the Kairos family.

The banquet will be held at the First Baptist Church of Augusta, 3500 Walton Way Extension, Augusta, GA, on the 18th of June beginning at 6PM.  If you are interested in attending this event, please contact Jim Schroeder at 706-860-6871 or Michael Phillips at 803-279-7743 for more information and to make reservations.

FROM THE SECRETARIAT

The Most Important Part of Tres Dias

Sponsorship

Sponsorship is often taken for granted.  It is assumed in many communities that everyone knows the how and why of sponsorship.

  • Sponsorship is the first act of Palanca before the Weekend ever begins.  The experience of the Weekend begins with how we handle sponsorship.
  • Sponsorship under girds the Weekend with sacrificial love.  Sponsors use discernment in recruiting Candidates, embody the personal commitment of the community to each Candidate, and provides personal acts of love such as prayer and Palanca.

Sponsorship Is Vital

Tres Dias operates on sponsorship.  Personal sponsorship ensures the personal care and  commitment of God to each Candidate, and provides personal acts of love such as prayer and Palanca.

Why Sponsor?

To bring spiritual revitalization to Christians who will, in turn, bring new life and vision to the work of the church, home, workplace and community.

  • Who To Sponsor:

-        Church Leaders - pastors, elders, deacons, teachers.

-        Dependable Church members.

-        Less active who need commitments renewed.

-        Christians who desire a closer relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

-        Christians who are hungry for "something more" and who want to grow spiritually.

  • Who Not to Sponsor:

-        Non-Christians and persons with no relationship to the church of Jesus Christ.

-        Persons undergoing a severe emotional crisis, family break-up or severe grief.

  • Do Not use coercion.

-        God will cause the right response at the right time.

  • Tres Dias is a place for those who desire a closer walk with the Lord, whatever their starting point is.

  • Responsibilities Of Sponsors:

-        Know your candidate

-        Pray for your candidate

-        Bring your candidate to the send-off

-        Check on your candidates' family during the weekend

-        Come to the Closing; collect candidate luggage

-        Invite to Victory Secuela and other Secuelas

-        Encourage your candidates' Christian growth

-        Help your candidate find or form a reunion group.

-        Guide your candidate as they sponsor others

Wise Sponsorship is ALWAYS prayerful and purposeful

  • Candidate sponsored for all   three phases, Pre-Weekend, Weekend & Fourth Day,  NOT just the weekend.
  • No Secrets!

How To Sponsor

  • Pray for openness to God's call to discipleship.
  • Get to know your candidate.
  • Make an appointment with the person or couple to discuss their possible participation on a weekend.
  • Extend an invitation.  Don't tell someone they "need" Tres Dias, but rather that it is a gift to be received. Explain the purpose.
  • Answer all questions honestly
  • Recommended that the husband attends a weekend first; but the final decision is up to the local secretariat.

SPONSORSHIP

Sponsorship and the Responsibilities of a Sponsor

This is the ninth article in a series about the joys and responsibilities of being a sponsor.

Sponsoring candidates is only one of the many joys we have as members of the TD community.  However, sponsorship brings with it several serious responsibilities to the candidates, to the community, and ultimately, to God.

It has been said that the most important part of Tres Dias is sponsorship.

Responsibilities of a Sponsor

Following is a list of items and guidelines that sponsors should consider before entering into sponsorship:

e.  If a couple is married, explain why they both must agree to attend the weekend and the husband must attend his weekend first.

f.  Explain to your candidate that the weekend is a cloistered event because speakers will be sharing personal testimonies and we desire to provide a safe environment for all who attend.  Consequently, candidates should not bring cameras, personal electronic devices, cell phones, pagers, tape recorders, or other recording equipment to the weekend.  Encourage your candidate to come to the weekend free from the cares and responsibilities of work and home.

TRES DIAS GUIDE FOR TEAM MEMBERS

The following continues a series of excerpts from The Tres Dias Guide for Team Members.

SPECIFIC TEAM ASSIGNMENTS

TABLE LEADERS

Those team members who sit at the tables are called table leaders.  Some of them may also give rollos (rollistas).  (In some communities, table leaders are referred to as "professors" and "silent professors").

During the team meetings, the table leaders, especially those who are not giving rollos, have a great opportunity to observe the unity and wholeness of the team as it develops.  The rector is managing the Weekend, the auxiliaries are supporting the physical needs of the team meeting and planning to meet the needs of those who will be attending the Weekend; the rollistas are concentrating on their rollos.  Consequently, the table leaders are the ones who are free of other responsibilities and who frequently cn supply the insight and support which can help bring the team together as one body, in unity of purpose, under Christ.

During the team meetings, while every team member is important to the critiquing process, table leaders (and ex-rectors or others who have previously given a certain rollo) are especially key in the important task of rollo critiquing.  They are ideally placed to focus on the rollo outlines and the flow of the Weekend.  During the  Weekend, knowing the content of the rollo, they should use that knowledge to aid in the table discussion.

To be continued.......

SECRETARIAT REMINDERS

reminder
The Secretariat would like to remind you that it is inappropriate to bring children to send-off, closing, serenade or other Tres Dias functions that are not "family affairs"
Further, only those that have attended a recognized 3-day weekend my attend Tres Dias functions.

We appreciate your understanding and compliance with these Tres Dias requirements.

-   -   -

Also a reminder to sponsors - Please urge your candidates to leave all cell phones & electronic devices at home so that they can block out the outside world & spend 3 days focusing totally on God & what He has in store for them.

  -   -   -

There has been a growing issue with sponsors bringing candidates to send-off that have not been called for the weekend by the Secretariat.  We would ask that, to avoid embarrassment to yourselves and your candidate, that you NOT bring anyone to attend a weekend that has not been called by the Secretariat.  If you have a candidate that can attend at the last minute, write "last minute" on the top of the application and the application will be handled accordingly.  For questions about this, or any area of sponsorship, contact the appropriate Secretariat member.
-   -   -
We would like to remind everyone in the community that names and addresses from weekend rosters, team lists, and or the TDNG database are for TDNG use only.  This information should not be used for solicitation, or any other purpose not related to TDNG business.

If you have a need to inform the community of a ministry, prayer need, employment opportunity or need, we encourage you to use the message board referenced earlier in this newsletter.

-   -   -

Over the years a tradition has evolved where the sponsor paid the fee for their candidate's weekend; however, it is not a requirement to sponsorship.  Please do not avoid sponsoring just because you can't pay their fee or only sponsor those you can pay for in your budget.  Many sponsors will mention the $125.00 weekend fee up front and ask if that would that be a problem?

Think of it this way, if you invite friends to go see the Falcon's play, that does not obligate you to pay for their tickets or if you invite someone to go to a concert you do not feel obligated to pick up the tab. Remember the only way your friends can experience Tres Dias is for you to sponsor them.

-   -   -

Each Rector who serves the community agrees to be responsible for the collection of the team fees for their weekend. In some cases it has been interpreted that they would have to pay for any fees that were not paid by team members. This is not the intent. It is the Rector's responsibility to ensure that a full weekend fee is collected and paid to the Secretariat, but the fee is not his/her personal liability. Any shortfall should be taken care of by scholarships and remaining incidental fees.
