to host local Secuela's
The TDNG Secretariat has decided to develop local Secuelas within the metro Atlanta area to augment our main Secuelas . Many people have difficulty making it to our large secuelas and some may be more comfortable in a smaller group setting. We want everyone to experience the fellowship of Tres Dias that many of us enjoy thru our reunion groups, and for those of us in the Northeast Georgia area, the blessing of smaller, more intimate secuelas such as we are experiencing in the Athens area. What is a "local secuela"? It is where we identify key areas such as Forsyth County, Calhoun, W. Georgia, and Newnan in addition to the Athens area and thru our TDNG data base encourage Pescadores within 40 miles of these areas to attend these local secuelas. They will take on the aura of a reunion group as there will be ample time to get to know each other and to develop genuine fellowship. Prayer time is very special. The ideal is to have six secuelas per year coordinated so as to not conflict with the dates of the main secuela's sponsored by TDNG. We have been having secuelas in the Athens area for two years and have found several churches to host the event, Pescadores who enjoy leading us in worship, pastors who lead our communion, folks who want to share their 4th day, and a warm place to share prayer needs as well as praises. The format is simple. I forgot, we also have great food! One couple has volunteered to be our 4th Day couple for Forsyth County (which will most likely include N. Fulton) and they are in the process of recruiting another couple to assist. We are available to assist with the basics on getting started (really very simple and fun). Is the Holy Spirit prompting you? Contact us at lou@harrismgt.com or call 404-909-4762. DeColores, Carol and Lou Harris Heb. 10: 24& 25 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as [is] the manner of some, but exhorting [one another], and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

From our Chairman's Heart |

"Oh, for Heaven's Sake"
My Aunt Ruby had an expression when she was excited or overwhelmed. She'd put her hand on her hip and say: "Oh for heaven's sake". From a biblical point of view we have many glimpses into what we will enjoy in Heaven all prepared by Jesus for our sake.
When you choose to serve on a weekend, sponsor a candidate, pray, bake goodies, make palanca, create a banner, babysit, attend sendoff or closing, attend a reunion group or join a Secuela you probably do not think of these actions as having an eternal reward but they most certainly do!
"The Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does" (Ephesians 6:8). "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward" (Colossians 3:23-24).
God has prepared something wonderfully good for us, and we will find it to be extremely enjoyable. It is right for us to eagerly look forward to these great blessings, and when we count the cost of following Jesus, it is also right for us to count the blessings and rewards promised for us.
In the words of 1 Peter 1:3-9: "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade-kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time." Paul says: "Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever" (1 Corinthians 9:24-25).
He says, "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up" (Galatians 6:9).
We are to want rewards because it pleases Him to give them to us...and what pleases our Father should give us delight. So in Heaven we will take joy in God's presence and in what has graciously given us-including our loved ones, our eternal rewards, the beauties of Heaven's great city and gardens and the fascinating ministry activities we'll be engaged in. We are redeemed people with a fantastic future and eternal destiny.
So much to be thankful for, so much to rejoice about, so much to celebrate and all for Heaven's Sake!
DeColores, Bill

Sponsorship |

Sponsorship and the Responsibilities of a Sponsor
This is the fourth article in a series about the joys and responsibilities of being a sponsor.
Sponsoring candidates is only one of the many joys we have as members of the TD community. However, sponsorship brings with it several serious responsibilities to the candidates, to the community, and ultimately, to God.
It has been said that the most important part of Tres Dias is sponsorship.
Sponsor Wisely
Wise sponsorship is prayerful and purposeful. It will eventually produce a balanced, theologically-centered movement of the Holy Spirit. Tres Dias will then be honored by a variety of churches as effective renewal.
Careful, discerning sponsorship will prevent Tres Dias from becoming a "religious fringe group" or para-church organization. The harvest from Tres Dias should become a positive influence in the church or community, bringing unity into the Body of Christ.
Practical application - When considering who to sponsor, we should not only think of "what will they get out of Tres Dias?", but also "What will they do about it?" Tres Dias' goal of building Christian leaders is best met by sponsoring people who will go back into their church and community and support the growth of others, not act as though they are "better" because they have been to Tres Dias. |
Message Board |
|
Don't forget to use the message board,http://ngtd.activeboard.com for prayer requests, praise reports and other community member announcements. There are areas for prayer requests, ministry events, needs & seeds, and any other items you may have that would be of interest to the community. |
Tres Dias Essentials |
|
There are come components of the weekend that are "essential", some are "optional", some are "accidental", and some are "divinely orchestrated". The essentials are proscribed by Tres Dias International. Here are more. (continued from previous newsletters):
3.2 The essentials of the weekend phase
7. That the Rector be a lay person and be responsible for all aspects of the weekend, under the authority of the local sponsoring Secretariat.
8. That the team meet prior to the weekend to: promote community, receive instruction on the dynamics and critique all the Rollos.
9. That the TRES DIAS weekend be an intensive three-day program lasting approximately 72 continous hours.
10. That the team and candidates live in a cloistered environment for the entire weekend.
11. That lay-talks not be given by clergy, and Spiritual Director talks must not be given by a lay person.

Weekend Fees Changing |
|
Effective January 1, 2010, Fees will be $125.00
The expenses for our weekends continue to rise and, after much prayer and consideraton, we find it necessary after many years to raise the weekend fee to $125.00. This will apply to team and candidates. |
Tres Dias Guide For Team Members |
|
The following begins a series of excerpts from The Tres Dias Guide for Team Members.
The Role of The Team Member
(Continued from previous issue)
The rector has asked you to fulfill a specific assighment on this team: cha, table leader, music director, rollista, spiritual director, etc.
Each team position is an important part of Christ's body, with a specific task to perform. "If one part suffers, very part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it." (1 Cor 12:26). When each task is done under the leadership of the rector and to the glory of God, then the Weekend will be an effective instrument for His grace. Although a team member receives the blessings of the Lord's grace during this time of service, the weekend and its activities are to be directed for the benefit of the candidates.
Tres Dias team members are expected to be leaders for Christ. Accordingly, all should be members in good standing in a local congregation. If between churches, a team member should be regularly attending some church(es) while actively a permanent church home.

Invitaton to Serve on Kairos Weekend |
|
Planning for Kairos weekend #34 at Hancock State Prison to be held May 13th through May 16th is well underway. The Kairos team is inviting our fellow brothers in Christ to consider serving as a member of the Kairos team for this weekend. The mission of Kairos is to bring Christ's love and forgiveness to incarcerated individuals, their families and those who work with them, and to assist in them in the transition of becoming productive citizens. Like Emmaus, Cursillo, Tres Dias, and Via De Cristo weekends, the initial Kairos weekend consists of carefully coordinated talks, discussions, chapel meditations, and music led by the Kairos team.
Even though I felt God tugging at me pretty hard to be a part of this ministry, I must confess that nothing I've ever considered doing has felt more unnatural than this. But after making the decision to join Christ in this ministry, nothing I've ever done has felt as natural, nor has been more personally rewarding or spiritually enriching than Kairos. Through the privilege I've had to take part in Kairos weekends, I've witnessed how this experience creates the desire to become a Christian for many participants while many others are offered phenomenal encouragement and given powerful tools to continue their personal Christian growth.
Words can never describe how blessed I am to be a part of this powerfully transforming ministry and I've shared with many friends that I almost feel guilty about how deep the blessings are that I receive from the time I spend at Hancock State Prison. The faith and hope that some of these men possess, despite the incomprehensible mistakes they've made and the environment and the circumstances in which these mistakes have landed them, is truly inspiring and can only be explained by their coming to experience God's unconditional love and by how the Holy Spirit is working in their lives.
If you or someone you know is feeling the call to work a Kairos weekend, please contact me via phone (706-206-8080) or email at rnesbit@uga.edu so that I can answer any questions you may have and provide you with additional details. You can also find more information about this ministry by visiting http://www.kairoshsp.com/index.htm. Whether you are feeling called to work a Kairos weekend or not, please continue to keep this extraordinary ministry in your prayers.
In Him,
Ryan Nesbit Athens Area Walk to Emmaus #20

Secretariat Reminders |
|
The Secretariat would like to remind you that it is inappropriate to bring children to send-off, closing, serenade or other Tres Dias functions that are not "family affairs"
Further, only those that have attended a recognized 3-day weekend my attend Tres Dias functions.
We appreciate your understanding and compliance with these Tres Dias requirements.
- - -
Also a reminder to sponsors - Please urge your candidates to leave all cell phones & electronic devices at home so that they can block out the outside world & spend 3 days focusing totally on God & what He has in store for them.
- - -
There has been a growing issue with sponsors bringing candidates to send-off that have not been called for the weekend by the Secretariat. We would ask that, to avoid embarrassment to yourselves and your candidate, that you NOT bring anyone to attend a weekend that has not been called by the Secretariat. If you have a candidate that can attend at the last minute, write "last minute" on the top of the application and the application will be handled accordingly. For questions about this, or any area of sponsorship, contact the appropriate Secretariat member.
- - -
In order to clear up some confusion in prior wording, the Secretariat is notifying the community of the following by-law change:
"any person considered for position of chairman must have served as a rector in the N. Georgia community"
Policies and Practices Change
At the January Secretariat meeting, the Secretariat proposed an amendment to the Policies and Practices as follows: "There will be an optimum number of thirty-six (36) Candidate "slots" available each weekend but not to exceed forty-two (42) Candidates". The Policies and Practices document currently states "There will be thirty-six (36) Candidate "slots" available each weekend." This will allow Tres Dias of North Georgia to better assist developing communities with training their future community leaders in the North Georgia model. If you have questions or comments about this change, or the by-law change above, please send them to: Chairman 500 Sun Valley Dr. E-5 Roswell, GA 30076

TDNG Roster and Database Usage
We would like to remind everyone in the community that names and addresses from weekend rosters, team lists, and or the TDNG database are for TDNG use only. This information should not be used for solicitation, or any other purpose not related to TDNG business.
If you have a need to inform the community of a ministry, prayer need, employment opportunity or need, we encourage you to use the message board referenced earlier in this newsletter.

The Word |
|

"God called the expanse "sky". And their was evening and there was morning - the second day. And God said, "Let the water under the sky be gathered in one place, and let dry ground appear". And it was so. God called the dry ground "land", and the gathered waters he called "seas". And God saw that it was good.
