Secuela Attendance |
|
Thank you, TDNG community...the attendance at the secuelas has been exciting. What a great way to meed and celebrate with new Pescadores and old friends the impact God has made on their lives. We hope that this time of fellowship and worship will encourage new and seasoned pescadores alike to get more involved with their TD community. That is exactly what happed for Robert and me. Our sponsors took us to a secuela after our weekend and we are thankful to them for it. TD changed our lives forever.
Secuelas are the finishing touch to the weekend and we look forward to seeing you there.

Our Identity and Calling
Have you noticed that one of the most frequently used words of identity for Christians in the New Testament is saint? A saint is literally a holy person. Yet Paul and the other writers of the Epistles used the word generously to describe common, ordinary, everyday Christians like you and me. For example, 1 Corinthians 1:2 reads: "To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, saints by calling, with all who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours." Notice that Paul didn't say that we are saints by hard work. He clearly states that we are saints by calling. Some of us have bought into the mentality that saints are people who have earned their lofty title by living a magnificent life or achieving a certain level of maturity. Not true. The Bible says you are a saint because God called you to be a saint. You were "sanctified in Christ"--made a saint by participating in the life of the only true holy one, Jesus Christ. Many Christians refer to themselves as sinners saved by grace. But are you really a sinner? Is that your scriptural identity? Not at all. God doesn't call you a sinner; He calls you a saint--a holy one. If you think of yourself as a sinner, guess what you will do: You'll live like a sinner; you'll sin. Why not identify yourself for who you really are: a saint who sins. Remember: What you do doesn't determine who you are; who you are determines what you do. Since you are a saint in Christ by God's calling, you share in Christ's inheritance. That which is true of Christ is now true of you, because you are in Christ. It's part of your identity. You are not the great "I Am," but with Paul you can say, "By the grace of God I am what I am" (1 Corinthians 15:10). I pray that we all live out the "Fourthday" growing in our assurance that Father God sees us those set apart and redeemed by the finished work of Christ on the Cross of Calvary, saints with a whole new life and identity. DeColores, Bill

Sponsorship and the Responsibilities of a Sponsor
This is the first article in a series about the joys and responsibiiities of being a sponsor.
Sponsoring candidates is only one of the many joys we have as members of the TD community. However, sponsorship brings with it several serious responsibiities to the candidates, to the community, and ultimately, to God.
It has been said that the most important part of Tres Dias is sponsorship.
Responsible Sponsorship
Sponsorship is an integral part of Tres Dias; however, responsible sponsorship is often taken for granted. We assume that everyone knows the how and why of sponsorship. Sponsorship is the first act of Palanca before the weekend ever begins. A candidate's experience with his or her sponsor impacts the experience they will have on the Weekend. Please keep this in mind as you handle your sponsorship
Practical application - our pre-weekend folks make an unbelievable number of phone calls in order to assign candidates to a weekend. If you get a call from them, please return it so they will know what you intend to do about your candidate. If they do not hear from you within three days, they will assume that you will no longer be sponsoring the candidate in question. |

Tres Dias Essentials |
|
There are come components of the weekend that are "essential", some are "optional", some are "accidental", and some are "divinely orchestrated". The essentials are proscribed by Tres Dias International. Here are more. (continued from previous newsletters):
3.2 The essentials of the weekend phase
1. That the weekend have the following characteristics:
A. It is a weekend of living in Christian community involving a combination of carefully developed activities and teachings which are meant to lead to a fuller personal commitment to Christ.
B. It embodies personal witness, but it is not a revival meeting.
C. It employs group dynamics, but it is neither sensitivity training nor group therapy.
d. It employs theological instruction that encourages the candidate to study his/her own Christian beliefs, but is not a course in doctrine
