Volunteer Coordinator Updates

January 2010
Greetings!

Happy New Year from all of us at the Minnesota Literay Council!

We strive to provide updated, relevant resources and services to strengthen adult literacy programs through engaging volunteers.  One of the ways we do this is by referring interested volunteers to literacy programs. We have redesigned part of our web site to streamline volunteer referrals. Read on to find out how you can post or update your current volunteer opportunities.

Improved Access to Volunteer Opportunities
Post current volunteer opportunities at your program
Doorway to ClassroomWe have redesigned a section of our Web site to provide potential volunteers easier access to information about your program and its volunteer opportunities.

Our goal is to improve and streamline the process of referring volunteers to programs that fit well with their interests and availability while meeting the needs of each literacy program.

A few highlights of the newly redesigned web pages are:
  • improved navigation and readability;
  • phone, email and web site information for your program will be clearly displayed so volunteers may contact you directly;
  • volunteers can search by geographic area;
  • opportunities will be listed by the date that we recieve notification of them (the newest postings will be at the top, so please send us frequent updates);
  • a map of each location.
Check out the new web pages here. Please tell us about your volunteer needs using our online form.  After your posting is submitted and approved, we'll list it online and share the information with training participants and prospective volunteers. Questions? Contact Allison Runchey at arunchey@themlc.org.
