Creating a New Program

The nonprofit sector is continuously coming up with innovative new ideas to improve the world in some way. However to turn a great idea into a tangible program, you need to sit down and plan out all aspects of the work that will need to be done. Unsure of what to do first? Check out the chapter on program development in Grantseeker's Guide to Winning Proposals or visit the reference collection at the Joel D. Valdez Main Library to peruse a lengthy tome all about Designing and Planning Programs for Nonprofit and Government Organizations. If you can't make it in to the library, check out Free Management Library's info on program planning and management. Doing your homework and designing a well thought-out program before you seek a grant will enhance your chance of being funded.
