Quick Survey: Tell Us What You Want for 2013 

If you've ever attended a nonprofit workshop at the library, you know that I'm always seeking your feedback about the program and what other things you'd like to learn more about. Please take a moment to fill out this short six question survey to help me decide when to host workshops and what topics to feature for 2013. Volunteerism Grants  

Deadline: June 22, 2012

Entries for the Be Big in Your Community contest administered by the Points of Light Institute and the HandsOn Network are now being accepted. One grant of $5,000 and five grants of $1,000 each, plus guidance, will be given to individuals and teams who wish to carry out projects that create positive changes in local communities.

Arts & Culture

Grants for Lutheran Activities 

Deadline: July 16, 2012

Wheat Ridge Ministries seeks to promote new and innovative ideas within the areas of health and wellness. All proposed projects must have a component of Lutheran ministry. Grants range from $5,000 to $45,000.

Art Education, Exhibitions & Publications

Deadline: October 17, 2012

The Dedalus Foundation supports art though educational programs, exhibitions, and publications by museums, universities, art schools, and other educational institutions. In addition to providing funds for short term projects, the Foundation provides seed money to facilitate long term projects that are in their initial or planning stage.  Generally, the Foundation limits such grants to approximately $25,000. The fall grants program opens in September.

Grants Promote Artistic Communities  

Deadline: None

The Surdna Foundation seeks to foster just and sustainable communities throughout the United States. The Foundation's Thriving Cultures program honors and celebrates the artistic impulse as part of community behavior and as a way to strengthen community identity and cohesion. Through the Thriving Cultures program, grants are provided to nonprofit organizations that address the following three lines of work: Teens Artistic Advancement, Artists Engaging in Social Change, and Community Driven Design.

Photography Grants

Deadline: None

The Mapplethorpe Foundation provides support for museums and other public institutions to create or expand photography departments, including the acquisition of photographs, as well as study and exhibition facilities related to photography. Support is also available for exhibitions, which ideally will be accompanied by quality catalogues to insure the documentation of photography as a fine art. In the appropriate circumstance, the Foundation will also assist independent curators in developing photography exhibitions. Past grants have ranged from $1,000 to $250,000, with most $25,000 and under.

Education & Literacy

STEM Afterschool and Summer Program Grants

Deadline: June 29, 2012

This project is designed to support student interest in STEM by strengthening the capacity of organizations or schools that inspire and engage middle school students particularly female, minority, or high poverty students and enable these previously overlooked organizations to present Summer of Innovation content and themes. Grants of $2,000 to $2,500 will be made.

Funds for Basic Needs

Deadline: July 16, 2012

The TJX Foundation supports nonprofit organizations in communities throughout the continental U.S., including Tucson. The Foundation's primary mission is to contribute to programs that provide basic-need services to disadvantaged women, children, and families in company communities. Specific areas of interest include civic/community, domestic violence prevention, education, health, and social services.

Youth Education Grants 

Deadline: July 16, 2012

The RBC Foundation gives support to organizations where the company operates, including Tucson. Their primary focus is on education grants, which are mainly directed to the RBC After School Grants Project for programs that prepare K-12 students for future success. The Foundation focuses on structured, supervised academic mentoring or college-preparatory activities and youth financial literacy programs. Past grants have ranged from $100 to $10,000.

Technology Solutions to Improve the Lives of Women 

Deadline: August 15, 2012

Intel Corporation and Ashoka Changemakers have announced the launch of the She Will Innovate: Technology Solutions Enriching the Lives of Girls competition, which is designed to find innovative solutions that equip girls and women with new digital technologies, enabling them to live healthier, smarter, and more meaningful lives. Entries should identify innovations that accelerate women's socioeconomic progress by empowering them with digital solutions to improve their health, education, and well-being. Three winners will each receive a cash prize of $10,000. Two $500 cash prizes will be awarded for the best entries submitted before July 18, 2012.

The mission of the Grants & Nonprofit Information Center is to provide information resources for nonprofit and community organizations to assist them in fulfilling their missions. You can visit us on the 3rd floor of the Joel D. Valdez Main Library in downtown Tucson.
