Strengthen Your Need Statement
|
A good grantwriter is able to build a very strong case for why specific programs or operations are important for their community in the part of the proposal known as the need statement. The first things you should gather to construct a compelling need statement are facts and statistics. These could be facts that your own organization gathers, such as numbers of clients on waiting lists, or they could be gathered from outside governmental organizations. The 2010 Census and the 2010 1-year American Community Survey are great places to look for information to enhance your proposal's need statement. Come to the free workshop Using Census Data in Grantwriting on Friday, November 18th, from 9:15 to 11:00 am to learn how to search for information that will increase your chances of being successfully funded.
