If you're reading this, then you have experienced just one small piece of Pima County Public Library's online presence. Just like many nonprofits, the Library has tried a variety of tools to increase the community's knowledge of our online forum. How has your nonprofit been communicating with your supporters and potential supporters online? If you'd like to hear about the latest trends and best practices in the art of online communications for nonprofits, come to the Tuesday, August 23rd Grants & Nonprofit Info Center workshop Nonprofit eMarketing: Do it Right! at the Joel D. Arts & Cultural Organizational Sustainability Grant

Deadline: August 26, 2011
This Tucson Pima Arts Council grant for organizations in Pima County supports the sustainability of non-profit arts and cultural organizations, and supports creative thinking and leadership related to organizational sustainability in the non-profit arts and cultural sector of the City of Tucson. Grants of $2,500, $5,000, or $10,000 will be made.

Arts Project Grant 2011-2012

Deadline: August 26, 2011 (by noon)
Pima County Arts Project Grants from the Tucson Pima Arts Council provide support for programs that contribute to the rural community's participation in the arts and promotes local arts programming. Nonprofit arts organizations and community organizations that have evidence of support in the Pima County community served are eligible to apply. Projects must occur in Pima County (outside Tucson City limits). Maximum grant amount is $1,500.

New Place Initiative 

Deadline: September 16, 2011 (by 5pm)

The PLACE Initiative Grant is designed to leverage and enhance resources and talent to implement arts based civic engagement projects which deal with issues of cross-cultural understanding, tolerance and or civil society in Tucson, Arizona. Informing this opportunity is the issue of cultural and civic belonging -how to understand and accommodate cultural difference in matters of civic participation, how to build a tolerance of diverse views: religious, cultural, aesthetic; and how to enhance the understanding of the common good.

Arts & Culture Grants

Deadline: September 30, 2011

The William and Ruth Pendelton Memorial Fund provides grants to programs involved in arts and culture, the performing arts, museums, and libraries. Past grants have ranged from $1,000 to $12,000. Contact the Fund to request the required grant application by calling or emailing Kerry J. Hall at (602) 257-5435 or kerry.hall@usbank.com at U.S. Bank. The Foundation can also be reached at 1 (800) 252-1617. Ask for Kerry or her assistant. For more information, please visit any branch of the Pima County Public Library and search the grants databases using the foundation's name.

Music Research and Preservation Projects 

Deadline: October 3, 2011

The Grammy Foundation awards scientific research project grants of up to $20,000 to organizations and individuals working to research the impact of music on the human condition. The foundation will also award archiving and preservation project grants to organizations and individuals working to advance the archiving and preservation of the music and recorded sound heritage of the Americas. The archiving and preservation area has two funding categories - preservation implementation (grants of up to $20,000) and planning, assessment, and/or consultation (grants of up to $5,000). A letter of inquiry is required before a full application may be invited for consideration.

Literacy & Education

Implementation of New Online Resources

Deadline: August 22, 2011 (first stage applications)  

The National Center for Family Literacy is accepting grant applications from education and community organizations working to provide support for Latino and other families whose members want to earn college degrees. The grant program is intended to broaden the availability and targeted use of a recently developed comprehensive set of online tools for local organizations, schools, and community colleges. Grantees may use one or all of the toolkit resources in their proposed project. Ten grants of up to $25,000 will be awarded.

Live, Learn, and Thrive Program for Children

Deadline: September 30, 2011
Proctor & Gamble Company is focusing its support on its global corporate program, Live, Learn, and Thrive. The program comes to life through initiatives in communities around the world reaching children in need, prenatal to 13 years of age. P&G wants to help children live by ensuring a healthy start; to provide them with places, tools, and programs that enhance their ability to learn; and to help them develop skills for life so they can thrive.

STEM Education

Deadline: September 30, 2011

Northrop Grumman Foundation focuses a substantial portion of its contributions on programs which address education, services for veterans and the military, health and human services, as well as the environment. Their main focus is science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education. They partner with local organizations that provide unique programming to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers and technicians. Aid to Higher Education grants enhance STEM programs and contribute to activities that support our relationships with college and university partners. These grants provide funding for scholarships, student organizations and STEM programs and projects. Grants range from $10,000 to $250,000, though most are closer to the low end.

Field Trip Grants for K-12 Schools

Deadline: September 30, 2011

Each Target store will award three Target Field Trip Grants to K-12 schools nationwide-enabling one in 25 schools throughout the U.S. to send a classroom on a field trip. Each grant is valued up to $700.

Elizabeth Read Taylor Foundation

Deadline: September 30, 2011

The Elizabeth Read Taylor Foundation provides grants to arts and culture, museums, performing arts, botanical gardens, secondary education, Christian schools, programs for children and youth, youth development programs, and programs for people with disabilities. The foundation especially encourages requests from organizations assisting physically or developmentally handicapped. Grants generally do not exceed $10,000. The preferred location of grant recipients is Tucson, Arizona. Address grants to Sidney L. Felker, 7440 N. Oracle Bldg 2, Tucson, AZ 85704 or call 520-742-0440 to speak with someone at the Foundation. For more information, please visit any branch of the Pima County Public Library and search the grants databases using the foundation's name or use the free Foundation Finder to review past 990 filings from your office.
