"20 On The Town" - A Town-Wide Promotion!
As we mentioned last newsletter, Media will be hosting an event called "20 On The Town" and the concept is simple: on Saturday, November 13, we will all feature discounts or other promotions focused around the number 20.  Maybe you'll have 20% off everything that shoppers can fit in a bag like Ten Thousand Villages will do, or maybe 20% off a specific product line.  Media Eye Works is calling their event "See 20/20/20" as they'll be offering 20% off iZon lenses.

It's up to you... the concept is really yours to customize.  Whether you participate "store-wide" or just one item, the value proposition exists in working together and having as many participating businesses as possible.

The logo is finished, so now we're producing window clings for participants, plus additional signage that you can use within your business to indicate which products are featured.  We will also be publicizing this event through print ads, press releases, eBlasts, social media (click here to see the draft Facebook event) and encourage you to do the same, especially to your own customer base.  The logo can be provided digitally for your use as well.  Lastly, we've partnered with MAC to tie this into the 2nd Saturday maps, etc.

Please send an email to mba@mediaborough.com this week to confirm you will participate, and we'll get you the materials you need, plus list you online.  We all know Media is authentic and presents shoppers and diners a unique experience.  Highlighting this with an event before the high point seasonal rush will benefit all of us.

We have some other great holiday promotions in the works, so stay tuned for more opportunities!

A Look Ahead to the Holidays
Media has a great tradition of holiday events and a beautiful streetscape for shoppers and diners to enjoy.  As we prepare for the 2010 season, here's a quick preview of upcoming events:
    • 13-Nov: "20 On The Town" event, plus 2nd Saturday
    • 23-Nov: Annie starts at The Media Theatre
    • 26-Nov: Santa's Arrival & Festival of Lights
    • 08-Dec: Carriage Rides 6-9pm
    • 11-Dec: 2nd Saturday, plus Holiday House Tour and Carriage Rides
    • 15-Dec: Carriage Rides 6-9pm
    • 16-Dec: Visit Santa in Media @ Santa's Village
      (daily through 23-Dec)
    • 22-Dec: Carriage Rides 6-9pm
    • 31-Dec: New Years Eve Celebration & Ball Drop
We hope everyone will stay open late on the Carriage Ride and 2nd Saturday nights if they can.  We'll be making the Carriage Rides a little more special this year with an extended route that takes riders from Monroe to Orange Streets, scripts the drivers will read highlighting Media landmarks, and participation by Front Street businesses like the Library.  We'll also be giving all riders a special Media bag... if you have anything you'd like to contribute to the bags (advertisements, coupons, small gifts, candy, etc), please let us know.  This is a great way to reach potential customers directly.

Are you doing anything special during this season?  Let us know and we'll help spread the word through the VisitMediaPa.com calendar, Facebook and Twitter.
Philadelphia Magazine Ad Spots Still Available
Last month we mentioned the partnership between The MBA Promotions Committee and Philadelphia Magazine on its "Dream Towns" campaign.  There are still some spots left, so as a reminder, the MBA will be subsidizing the first 15 ads placed ... the price you pay is just $470 instead of $570.  See the documents below for more information and contact Philadelphia Magazine directly as indicated to place your ad.
Delaware County Food Drive
County Council's 2010 Holiday Food Drive is running through November 19th and we are extending the outreach of the drive to the larger Media community. You can drop off nonperishable food items at collections boxes in the Courthouse, Government Center lobby, and the Fronefield building any time. Food cupboards report that the need this year is greater than ever.
We would like to hear what topics interest you, and we are also always looking for volunteers, so please feel free to contact us @ mba@mediaborough.com or 610.566.5039 anytime. We also welcome you to join the Promotions Committee Meetings the 3rd Thursday of every month.

In an effort to communicate more effectively with local businesses and organizations, the MBA will be regularly conveying important information related to our business community via this newsletter service: ConstantContact.
