Register Early for Free Tech Shirt
Runners set their watches for the start of last year's race.
There's still time to register for our 2nd Annual Tuff 10K Trail Race at Breakheart Reservation in Saugus this coming Sunday. Although registration will be available right up until race day, there are only a few spots left for runners to receive one of our free tech shirts, which will go to the first 50 runners who register online.
On Sunday, the trail race will begin at 10:00 a.m. with registration opening at 8:30 a.m. Runners will experience a challenging mixed course that includes single and double track trails through the woods and rocky areas of Breakheart Reservation in Saugus. Although brief portions of the race will be on paved road, this is not a road race.
For more information about the course and prizes for runners, please check out our Trail Race website. Special thanks to race director Dan Scotina and to all of this year's sponsors.
Location: Breakheart Reservation, 177 Forest Street, Saugus. From Route 1, take the Lynn Fells Parkway exit. Take a right onto Forest Street (just after Target). Follow to end.
Volunteers Needed for Race Day
Volunteers remove one of several large trees
that came down during Hurricane Irene.
Special thanks to all the volunteers who have been working over the past two weeks to get the trails ready for this Sunday's race. Race Director Dan Scotina, Saugus River Watershed Council board members, and friends have been removing large trees that came down during Hurricane Irene, and clearing the trails of debris and branches for Sunday's race.
Volunteers are still needed to help with race day logistics on Sunday. Please contact the Saugus River Watershed Council at srw@shore.net if you would like to help out. Volunteer jobs include helping with the registration, helping to direct runners, and removing trail markings after the race.
Students volunteering at this event can earn important community service hours as this is a benefit event where all proceeds help support the Saugus River Watershed Council's environmental education programs for area school children.
