AHR EXPO 2012 REPEATS RECORD BREAKING NUMBERS |
This past January 23-25, the International Air-Conditioning , Heating, and Refrigeration Expo came to Chicago, producing larger record turnouts than in previous years. Last year, according to the AHRExpo.com, the 2011 AHR Expo in Las Vegas covered over 379,360 square feet breaking previous records for total exhibit space. This year the expo has grown to over 428,000 square feet of exhibit space. Along with breaking exhibit space records again, the attendance records were larger than ever with visitor attendance over 58,000 this year, as well as more exhibitors.
The Sho-Link Las Vegas crew set-up 17 exhibits last year, but this year Sho-Link Chicago crew set-up 27 exhibits including past exhibitors, as well as new exhibits. Sho-Link set-up our largest exhibit for Group Delphi's client Grundfos Pumps with a 37.5x50 booth, which took 11 men about 100 hours total to install and dismantle. Among some of the other larger exhibitors this year were Nimlok Chicago's The Filtration Group, a 40x37.5, Derse Milwaukee's client Regal Beloit, a 20x60 booth, and Group Delphi's client Tecumseh with a slightly smaller 29x40 booth.
Although the AHR Expo in Chicago this year was larger than ever before, and one of the larger shows to come to Chicago in recent years, the Sho-Link Chicago crew was able to adapt to the needs of our exhibitors in order to provide high-quality service and client satisfaction.
"I just wanted to say what a wonderful job the Sho-Link staff and on-site crew did for us at the recent AHR Expo in Chicago. Mike DeGiacomo, and Jeffry Ochoa were polite and professional in handling our setup and teardown. The suggestions they provided in coordinating with the electrician and material handling made for a very smooth and efficient project. Once again a job well done to both of these gentlemen!" - Joe Tinney, Bryan Steam LLC
With the AHR Expo expanding over so many past years, Sho-Link will be looking forward to the next AHR Expo, which will be coming to Dallas in January 2013, and hopefully increasing even larger next year to keep our Sho-Link Dallas crew on their toes!

In the Spotlight: Ron Mestichelli, Spectrum Show Services
Since 1994 Sho-Link has evolved from a single direct city to over 30 direct cities and more than 16 affiliates. From the start, Ron Mestichelli, Spectrum Show Services, has been an essential industry leader providing specialized I&D services in the Northeast, such as New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.
Ron and Sam Miserendino started Spectrum in September of 1992, a couple short years before Sho-Link emerged on the I&D scene, and will be celebrating a successful 20 years this fall. A fun fact about the early days- Spectrum started their first year working from Ron's own basement - and now they work in multiple cities across the country!
Working with Sho-Link for almost two decades now, Ron has come to have some great experiences and also grow into a wonderful relationship with our Sho-Link family. "Everyone at Sho-Link understands the business, [both] the friend, and business relationship mean a lot to me, and Spectrum personally," said Ron about his experience with Sho-Link.
With Sho-Link, and Spectrum's high commitment to customer service and already long standing relationship, a strong and experienced team has been formed to better serve everyone on the show floor. | |

Sho-Link Employee Announcements |
Katrina Thomas, Accounting Assistant
Please help us give a warm welcome to Katrina Thomas, our new Accounting Assistant at the Corporate Office in Lake Bluff. Katrina joined Sho-Link in January and will be working closely with Amy Bailey in accounting. Some of Katrina's responsibilities include payables, receivables and payroll . Katrina's past working experience was in the commercial construction business where she also worked in accounting .
Katrina lives in Gurnee, IL with her husband Howard and two cats, (brothers) Banderling and Pogo, and a dog named Poydras. In Katrina's spare time, she loves to curl-up on the couch reading horror, sci-fi and mystery books. Her favorite authors are Stephen King and Nora Roberts. Katrina is a "saint" of sorts -- a New Orleans Saint fan that is -- black and gold are her team colors on game day. Katrina loves the family oriented environment at Sho-Link. We are delighted to have Katrina join the Sho-Link family as one of our team players.
Dave Benson, San Diego Show Foreman
Dave was born in Worth, IL and started out as a "gopher" during his summers once he was 16, going out to get supplies like lumber, and tools for the carpenters learning some great skills and experience along the way.
After the big blizzard of '78 in Chicago, Dave set his sights out west in San Diego and has been there ever since. Upon arriving in San Diego, Dave began running and managing his own small handyman business until he joined Sho-Link in 2005. Dave has been married to his wife Joan for 27 years, and enjoys spending time with her, his step-daughter, and grandchildren.
Dave enjoys his new position and is excited and ready for all the new challenges he will facing. Dave's favorite part of the job is meeting clients from all over the country an world on the show floor. Congratulations on your new position Dave, from everyone here at the Sho-Link family! |
Your Partner In the Kitchen -- From Our Tool Belt to Yours Sho-Link's Corporate Staff had a mouthwatering experience with a chili cook off. Sho-Link had nine homemade crock-pots of hearty recipes, but only one would take home the title of best chili. Our 1st place winner was Theresa Peiffer; Theresa had a secret ingredient in her chili that everyone enjoyed. . . beer. A can of beer added a unique taste to the crock of chili. Theresa loves to make this special dish at her home for her family and friends. Theresa recently sent us a picture of her chili . . . please note no cats were hurt during this chili cook-off! click here

Houston, We Have a Problem!
By Bill Redman | |
Growing up during the so called "space race", I have always had a fascination with rocket ships. I had seen all the old movies and TV shows. Up until I was 11 years old, "Forbidden Planet" was by far my favorite movie. Until I saw "2001: A Space Odyssey". I didn't really understand it but "DAMN"! I had to get into space, and quick.

Kudos Keep Flowing
" Thank you Sho-Link for a job well done, Dean was AWESOME. Sho-Link did a great job and I appreciate all you did to accommodate us."
-- Lorrie Matteson, Derse Texas
"I just wanted to inform you that Jeff Brosseau has gone above and beyond to get our client up and running for their show opening tonight. Jeff called me this morning to say I had left out two key elements in the exhibit framework. The nice folks at Nimlok Orlando were kind enough to cover us for the parts, and Jeff made the effort to pick them up and get everything done on time. While we strive to be perfect, obviously, this is not always the case. We are thankful for men like Jeff, and we rely on Sho-link for just that reason."
-- Al Smith, Nimlok Maine
"I wanted to give the Sho-Link crew, Jessie, A-Rod, and Caleb a great big thank you for all their help. They all went above and beyond to make sure the booth was set in a timely manner and the client was taken care of. They also helped me out quite a bit. I lost my phone and they were kind enough to let me use theirs and let me use A-Rod's overnight. I will recommend them whenever we have anything going on in Vegas."
-- Tammy Denardo, Derse Minnesota
"Thank you Sho-Link for a job well done, Dean was AWESOME. Sho-Link did a great job and I appreciate all you did to accommodate us." "We met with our client Ceradyne to present a new 20 x 60 booth concept that would replace their current booth properties. The President of the company (Mark King) walks into the room and says "good morning". He then thanks us for our continued partnership and immediately follows up with raving reviews of Steve Allibone and our Sho-Link team members. Mark went on to recall numerous situations where he requested Steve's assistance. Whether it was changing the booth orientation, running electrical or any number of additional requests on the fly, Steve's response was always the same, "yes, we can do that". Evidently, Steve noticed that Mark likes Snickers bars and leaves several of them in Ceradyne's refridgerator at every show. This personal touch and attention to detail is something Mark appreciates beyond words. Mark and the Ceradyne team consider Steve an integral part of their trade show success, they loook forward to their continued partnership with Steve and Sho-Link for years to come. "

Sho-Link's End of the Year Celebration
|
Sho-Link Corporate celebrated a successful 2011 year at Opa!, a Greek restaurant in Vernon Hills, IL. Sho-Link's Corporate family shared a delicious meal, drinks and engaging conversation. This year, Sho-Link honored Tony Scaccia as the Corporate Employee of the Year. After dinner everyone took part and had fun in a competitive game of WhirlyBall. If you have not heard of WhirlyBall before, it combines lacrosse, hockey and basketball with bumper cars. In the end we were all winners, as we enjoyed a relaxing and entertaining evening together, even with all the bumper collisions.
