Congratulations Alliance Class of 2010 & Future College Grads of 2014!

     It's official, 100% of seniors graduating from Alliance high schools received diplomas and 95% (615 students), are headed to college. All-School Joint Board Meeting  

On June 17th the Alliance held its All-School Joint Board Meeting with principals and school leaders from each of the 16 Alliance College-Ready Public Schools. The occasion, held at the USC Marriott, also marked the opportunity to recognize those schools that have excelled at community & parent engagement at their respective campuses. Recipients of the 2010 "Parents as Partners Award of Excellence," are Heritage College-Ready Academy High School, led by Principal Robert Pambello; O'Donovan Middle School, led by Principal Rosalio Medrano; and Huntington Park College-Ready Academy HS, led by Principal Laura Galván. Awardees received a $1,000 school grant from the Alliance.

Each summ2010 Principals Retreater, Alliance school principals meet to plan strategies for the year, share effective practices and glean from each other in terms of professional development. This year, the Alliance held its annual Principals Retreat in the Marina Del Rey. It was over-cast with inclement wheather for July, but the absence of sun didn't diminish the bright outlook among principals.

On July 14th, College-Ready Academy High School #11 celebrated a ground-breaking, the opening of a new technology-themed high school in the Watts community, adjacent to the Watts Towers community Center on Wilmington at 107th Street. As incoming Principal Dr. Mickie Tubbs announced at the gathering of community members and media outlets, each student at #11 will receive a laptop computer, which will become theirs upon graduation. The goal is to make every student who comes thru the doors, ready for college, so they may better compete in a 21st Century workplace.
