If not, you should be! As I think back over the last five years of attending SMC meetings both here with the HBA of Metro Orlando and the Home Builders and Contractors Association of Brevard County, I can rattle off a pile of contacts that have turned into great professional relationships, professional relationships that have turned to friendships and educational opportunities that have changed my future.  

What do I like about the SMC?
The list could go on for days but here are a few of my favorites:

1. Where else can you meet and mingle with industry-leading keynote speakers sharing information that is relevant, motivational, empowering and timed just right what is happening in the market? Sales trainers, life coaches, government officials, home builder Presidents and CEO's are just a few of the people I've networked with over the years.
2. Education. This is one of the top reasons that SMC is one of the best professional groups I am associated with. Most recently I reached out to HBA of Metro Orlando and shared with them I wanted to pursue a professional designation but Texas was the only place that offered the Certified New Home Sales Professional (CSP) class. Not only were they open-minded to hosting a local class here in Orlando, it was on the calendar within weeks and at a fraction of the cost. The instructor was great, I received my designation and the local class allowed for one of my sales agents and a top-producing Realtor we sponsored to join the class. I am in pursuit of another certification and SMC has tentatively got the event planned and even picked a time frame for us to get reduced class-room materials.
3. SMC offers unique networking opportunities like their "Closing Time", after-hours social. We sponsored one in July and had over 25 attendees; more than half were local real estate agents. In March, we were in a Builder expo and got face-to-face with more than 100 real estate agents all in just a few hours.

All in all, my membership and participation with SMC has been very rewarding personally and professionally. I have worked with Adams Homes since 2001 and have moved up through the ranks to become General Manager and oversee sales, administration and construction for the Orlando area and am happy to credit SMC as a part of my success.

When you join SMC you get exposure to key people in the industry. When you participate with SMC you take your game to a whole new level. Adams Homes is an active member of SMC and we highly recommend it to all new home professionals.
