Greg was not able to attend our meeting in January, and has rescheduled for this month.
Greg Bonann created what is now known as one of the world's most
popular television series. After eleven
years of production, BAYWATCH is still seen in 140 countries on 6 continents in
33 languages by one billion viewers each week.
Its 11 seasons and 243 episodes make it one of the longest running shows
in television history.
For the past decade, Bonann has Executive Produced and created
over 350 hours of television including five series and three original
made-for-television movies.
The winner of eight prestigious directing awards, Bonann has
directed over one hundred and twenty hours of dramatic television as well as
400 of his signature music videos. He
made his directorial debut with a series of Olympic Films he produced for the
United States Olympic Committee. The
Winter Games of 1980 in Lake Placid, the 1984 Winter and Summer Games in
Sarajevo and Los Angeles and the 1988 Winter Games in Calgary have been
recognized worldwide as among the best sports films of their time.
Bonann's true passion has always been the beach. As soon as he was old enough, he focused his
efforts on qualifying to join the elite team of men and women who make up the
Los Angeles County Lifeguards. His dream
came true in 1970 and he has been a dedicated lifeguard ever since, still
working weekends and whenever his schedule permits.
In 1989, he was awarded the Medal of Valor, the most prestigious award given for bravery. Other honors include: The Gold Medallion Award
presented by the International Swimming Hall of Fame, the Title of Commander
in the Order of Lifesaving presented by the European Life Saving
Federation, and decorated as a Knight in the Order of Lifesaving
by the International Life Saving Federation.
Bonann is the co-founder and President of "A Chance For Children Foundation,"
a non-profit charity to benefit homeless and at-risk children. The year round foundation offers summer camps,
after school programs, college scholarships, and a variety of on-going
community activities.
Bonann currently resides Malibu, California. His autobiography "RESCUED FROM PRIME TIME,"
written in 2000, is about to go into it's second printing, this time in
softcover. And yes, he is 100% Italian!
