LOUIS FEOLA
Louis Feola was named president of Paramount Famous Productions in February, 2007. His primary responsibilities are overseeing the made for home entertainment business. The group works across Paramount Pictures, DreamWorks Pictures (live action), Nickelodeon Films, MTV Films, and the Paramount catalog. He also works with the Viacom branded cable networks in identifying additional opportunities. Louis Feola was the president of Universal Worldwide Home Entertainment responsible for managing the studio's two specialty production units - Universal Home Entertainment Productions (UHEP) and Universal Pictures Visual Programming (UPVP), plus Universal Cartoon Studio under the Universal Pictures umbrella. Louis has been an instrumental force in growing the made for video business at Universal, overseeing all of the companies TV animation, and also expanding family entertainment across multiple distribution channels. In this role, he was responsible for managing these three business units. He maximized franchise opportunities from Universal's feature films, made for video and television properties and developed and built new worldwide brand opportunities. Louis was responsible for the launch of Universal's made for video business, overseeing the development, production and release of the sequels to The Land Before Time, An American Tail, Balto, Darkman, Tremors, K-9, Beethoven and Slapshot, as well as the critically praised documentary Beyond The Mat. He was instrumental in acquiring the international rights to Mattel's Barbie (Nutcracker and Rapunzel) CGI movies. His division was also responsible for Universal Cartoon Studios which produced the first Woody Woodpecker TV series in over 20 years and produced The Mummy and Sitting Ducks animated TV series. From 1992 -1998 Louis served as president of Universal Studios Home Video and oversaw its worldwide operations. Prior to his being named president, the division experienced exceptional growth, which was strongly effected by his pioneering the initial video release of E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial. This was the first time a major live-action film was released at a collectible price and forever changed the video business to allow room for a significantly increased number of individual sales. His success in this area was further evidenced by his many contributions to the outstanding success of Jurassic Park, which tied in cross-promotional money from major packaged goods companies, and set new benchmarks for the sell-through business. Louis also played an instrumental role in resolving the technical issues involved in the introduction of DVD and in developing and implementing Universal's strategy to support this format. Under his direction, in 1997 Universal announced an aggressive slate of DVD titles. Louis was named executive vice president (U.S.) MCA/Universal Home Video in 1990 and held that position until 1992. Prior to that he held the titles of senior vice president marketing at MCA Home Video (1987-1990) and vice president video distribution at MCA Distributing Corp. (1985-1987). He joined Universal in 1978 when he began his career in the Film Division.
