Current Exhibition

"We can never have enough of Nature" opened on June 1. Be sure to take a look at this beautiful exhibition inspired by the writings of Henry David Thoreau.

Artists of Distinction for this show are Peggy Martinez, Sushila Oliphant, and Maureen Zwier.

Gallery Artist - Elizabeth A. Patterson

During every exhibition, a small number of artists are singled out because of the distinctiveness of their work. These Artists of Distinction are selected because their work shows strong evidence of skill with the medium and contributes in a meaningful way to the theme of the exhibition. In addition, these artists are selected because their work is engaging in some special and unique way. Artists of Distinction are offered the opportunity to exhibit more of their art as Gallery Artists. This month we draw attention to Elizabeth A. Patterson, whose medium is pencils.

Elizabeth Patterson enjoys interpreting the beauty, joy, and elegance she finds in her everyday world through her current favorite medium of colored pencil. Whether a gathering of objects called together as a still life, a glimpse of nature, the grace of a figure, or a unique face...she treats each subject as a loving portrait of a moment in time.

Patterson is a lifelong artist who grew up in Burlington, Massachusetts. Her efforts were encouraged by her wonderful, creative family and an exceptional art department at Burlington High School.  She went on to study at Massachusetts College of Art and the University of Southern Maine. Through the years, portraiture has been one constant for Elizabeth, having completed hundreds of likenesses in pencil, colored pencil, or pastel for happy clients all over New England and beyond. She has also done extensive illustration and design work, calling on her painting and drawing skills to create art for stationery, home decor products, and the catalog and print industries.

Patterson's work is beautiful and engaging to view...it seems poetic and musical as well as artistic...as if several muses visited the artist to inspire and sustain her creativity.

Patterson was named an Artist of Distinction in Still Point Art Gallery's exhibition: Still Point II.

July coverWhat is the Quarterly?

Still Point Arts Quarterly is a printed art and literary publication that focuses on artistic expression and creativity. The Quarterly is published with the intention of engaging, enlightening, and inspiring both artists and art enthusiasts.

What Are We About?

What is Still Point Art Gallery about? We are all about art! The premise of Still Point Art Gallery is that art and artistry possess the capability to transform the world. Art matters. Art can change the world. Artists can change the world.

Given this premise, we've decided to change our sales policy and procedures. Beginning with our upcoming exhibition, "Destinations: Famous Places and Intimate Spaces," Still Point Art Gallery will no longer handle sales. As before, art may be listed with a price or NFS. All purchase inquiries will be referred to the artist, and the Gallery will not expect any commission if a sale is made...zero commission.

Our focus is on putting together high-quality creative exhibitions that  give amazing artists the opportunity to show and promote their work. This is how we help artists change the world. We don't want artists to feel they cannot participate in our exhibitions because they have work for sale at another concurrent show. We hear from many of our artists that they love being part of our interesting and inspired exhibitions, and we think this new sales policy gives artists better opportunities for participation.
