FOR VT BANNER

  delegates

Do you recognize the 2009 Vermont Recovery Delegate?

It's Don McGee (front row, 6th from the left).  Don is the founder of Serenity House in Wallingford. He is a person in long-term recovery who has touched the lives of hundreds, if not thousands of Vermonters over the years.

The 2008 Vermont Recovery Delegate is Diana Harrington, Plainfield resident and recovery advocate who has contributed to the recovery movement in many ways including member of the FOR-VT Advisory Board, former President of the Turning Point of Barre and recipient of the 2007 Jack Barry Communications Award.

The recovery movement is alive and well, and growing stronger than ever in Vermont!
Everywhere I go throughout Vermont I meet amazing people in long-term recovery who are ideal candidates to be selected as the 2010 Vermont Recovery Delegate!  If you're thinking you may want to apply, don't hesitate, now's the time!

It's simple!  Eligible applicants must have at least 10 years in recovery and have been active in the recovery community. Go to the A & E website to complete the application form.  The deadline for applications is May 28th.

Dear Friends,

Recently, I joined representatives from A&E Network, National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD), Faces and Voices of Recovery (FAVOR), , National Association of State Alcohol/Drug Abuse Directors (NASADAD), Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) and the SAMHSA Planning Partners to serve on Vermont's State Committee for the 3rd Annual A&E Recovery Project Delegate Program. I would like to encourage you to participate in this exciting initiative by submitting your personal story of recovery at The Recovery Project/Delegates.

The A&E Recovery Project Delegate Program was developed in 2008 to bring national attention to recovery by honoring individuals in recovery from every state.  Seeking individuals who had been in recovery for at least 10 years and who were active in their local recovery community, A&E and its partners collected hundreds of applications from across the country.  To date, 102 individuals from each of the 50 States and District of Columbia have represented their state at the Recovery Rally in New York City where more than 15,000 people gathered to celebrate recovery.

The State Committee was developed to help expand The A&E Recovery Project Delegate Program and generate increased awareness for addiction and recovery across the country.  I strongly encourage you to submit your application at www.therecoveryproject.com/delegates for the chance to represent Vermont at this year's Recovery Month event. All applicants must be in recovery for 10+ years and be active in their local recovery community.   Selected delegates will:

*  Receive complimentary airfare and hotel to a Recovery Month event in September
*  Network with fellow delegates at a welcome reception the night before the event
*  Have their stories of recovery highlighted/shared with local/national media
*  Help promote recovery through video posts, blogs and other updates on The Recovery Project's Facebook page year-round

Applications are being accepted through May 28th, 2010, so be sure to apply today!  And please feel free to pass this email along to any family, friends or colleagues who may be interested in applying as well.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at (802) 229-6103.
