"Houses for Change"
Let Kids Make a Difference
Family Promise of WNY would like to thank local Cub Scout Pack 47 of Pendleton for participating in the "Houses for Change" Project. In just 2 weeks the Cub Scouts raised $275 for our Emergency Shelter Program through bottle returns and saving loose change in their decorated boxes. "Houses for Change" is a fun, hands-on opportunity to raise awareness of homelessness in our communities and its brings people together to answer the question, "What can I do to help?" If you know of a local youth group, class, or scouts who would like to participate in this community service project contact Jessica @ 821-9100 or jessica@fpwny.org

Stories from Congregations
A Win-Win Joint Venture: The Riverside & Black Rock Neighborhoods and a Man From Canada.
Paula Hunt, co-coordinator from Sts. Columba-Brigid RC Church shares the following story.
A Family Promise Family, is now living in a newly renovated house in the Riverside neighborhood of Buffalo thanks to A Canadian citizen who saw an opportunity to invest in a neighborhood making housing affordable for so many. He holds his tenants responsible for the grass cutting by providing a lawn mower, and and even provides his tenants with a shovel and rock salt for snow removal. Each tenant signs a lease monthly, as he stated that he will not be the landlord who is in our courts fighting to remove anyone who does not follow his agreement. God is s good! With the help of so many, our families are truly HOME.

"Shelter from the Storm" Dinner
Family Promise of WNY celebrated our "Shelter from the Storm" Dinner on April 28, 2011 at Salvatore's Italian Gardens. The event was a great success! We would like to thank everyone who attended and most importantly thank the following sponsors for their generous support of our event and organization. Without the dedication and support of individuals within our community, Family Promise of WNY would cease to exist. Thanks to your support we are able to fulfill our mission of assisting families in their time of need; providing shelter, meals and guidance on their road towards independence.
