LECTURE: THE BENEFITS OF BILINGUISM AND BILINGUAL EDUCATION
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 18, at 7:30pm
The French-American School of Princeton will host Fred Genesee, a professor from McGill University in Montreal, to present a lecture on "The Benefits of Bilingualism and Bilingual Education: Communication, Cognitive, and Cultural Advantages."
Dr. Genesee is an internationally recognized researcher in the areas of second language acquisition, immersion and two-way immersion education programs, and bilingualism. His work has systematically documented the language development (both oral and written) and academic achievement of students who are educated through the media of two languages - their native language and another language.
Dr. Genesee is currently involved in a national study of a number of two-way immersion programs in the U.S. His current work also focuses on the simultaneous acquisition of two languages during early infancy and childhood. He is the author of several books and numerous articles appearing in scientific, professional, and popular journals.
A 45-minute lecture (in English) will be followed by questions and answers from the audience.
The school is offering this event free of charge to the public. The event will take place at the French American School of Princeton on Wednesday, March 18, at 7:30pm, Princeton Campus located at 16 All Saints Road.
