Loss of a BIBS Pioneer
| Funeral services were held for Alan DeBeneditto on June 2nd. Alan had many friends and a long history with
BIBS. His son Rocco shared a bit of
history with us;
I worked for my dad since 1972
when we moved to Lake Village and he started to build houses on his own.
In 1993 Guardian Fiberglass took a real interest in what Adco was doing
with BIBS, It was about that time that Guardian Fiberglass made an
offer. I was taken into Guardian Fiberglass to learn about the products
they used for BIBS and from there they had me traveling about providing
training and offering machine repairs. That was 97.
I remained with Guardian until 2000. Gale acquired the Guardian
installed locations and Dad remained on until his retirement in 2006. He never forgot
about any and all that of those people he met. He still has the picture
of him and Jesse, when he received the BIBS contractor of the year award. The corporate involvement was great for the cause, those men like my Dad, Tim Mulroy (Black Gold Insulation) Henry Sperber and Jesse Aragon worked hard to
promote and improve the process, but lacked the funding that big corporations can invest. Since BIBS was more labor intensive Than batts,
they had a time making that adjustment. Seemed like most people couldn't
really appreciate the quality. But they finally came around, and then it became big
business. There were times in the corporate environment when it was too demanding for what one could do and maintain the high
standards those pioneers established. Like my dad, if I put my name on
it, I need to be able to see it every day. I need to live with it
and know it was a job well done. No complaints and
only compliments! I now own several trucks and provides site services for contractors. Thank you to our founders. It is because of those old hands, pioneers, we are here today. Rocco DeBeneditto |
