MISSION CORNER

PowerhouseAmanda's Story

First off I would like to start with some information about myself. I drive fast. So fast in fact, that I was honored with a really excessive speeding ticket, details not important. What is important was the speeding ticket also brought me close to God. How did this happen you may ask? Well my transgression brought me to Powerhouse Ministries for an "Alternate Sentencing Program" where I completed 35 hours of community service. I chose to go to Powerhouse so I wouldn't have to pick-up trash on the side of the road while wearing a fashionable neon yellow jacket. I was told, by the program director from the State, that Powerhouse was a rehab facility that works with women and their children. Well believe me they do so much more. What was really surprising to me was the atmosphere of Powerhouse. Everyone was more than willing to share their own experiences with me and listen to my personal stories. Later I realized no one pressured me into committing to the Lord or made me feel they didn't care just because I hadn't been to their church. Because of the extended spirit of Powerhouse I was open to hear what they had to say. It had been years since I had been to a church and because of the wonderful people at Powerhouse I am proud to say I attended my first service since I was a teenager. Powerhouse has left its imprint in my life. I turned my bad situation into something positive with the help and friendship of Powerhouse. I am blessed to have a better relationship with the Lord and I will always be grateful to everyone at Powerhouse. Nancy Atchley added, "As always, we thank you for your continued prayers and support as we seek to assist the at-risk individuals in our community."
