MISSION CORNER

DID YOU KNOW? Nancy Atchley writes:

PowerhouseAmong the many services Powerhouse Ministries provides to people in our community, one of the things we do is to provide a place for people who have had minor infractions, with the law, to do their "Alternate Sentencing". Almost every day we have the privilege of having someone from the community working off their hours around Powerhouse.

In the process of these individuals completing their court ordered community service, the staff takes the time to talk to them. Many of the people serving out their "Alternate Sentences" are going through or have gone through life's difficulties. Often they are eager to have someone to talk to, someone who will listen and not judge them. Through these conversations we are often able to share the hope we have in Jesus. We are able to share how He never leaves us alone and how He helps us navigate through the storms of life. For us, it is never about a hard sell or forcing our faith on the people who come through our doors. It is more about our hope and prayer that we can just help them to discover the God who created them and His desire to have a relationship with them.

To follow, next week, will be the story of an "Alternate Sentencing" client.
