Journey Notes                                   May 29, 2011

Memorial Day

Dear Heavenly Father,

As we remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy every day, we think of how they have followed in the footsteps of your son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. Please hold our servicemen and women in your strong arms. Cover them with your sheltering grace and your presence as they stand in the gap for our protection.

We also remember the families of our troops. We ask for your unique blessings to fill their homes, and we pray your peace, provision, and strength will fill their lives.

May the members of our armed forces be supplied with courage to face each day and may they trust in the Lord's mighty power to accomplish each task. Let our military brothers and sisters feel our love and support.

In the name of Jesus. Amen.

Mission Corner

Twin Lakes Food Bank expressed their sincere and heartfelt THANKS for all who contributed toward the Easter Give-Away - funds for ham dinners, Easter baskets, etc. Our giving blessed many families who received these gifts this Easter.

Now is the time: ARE YOU DOING YOUR SPRING CLEANING?

Twin Lakes Food Bank always has need for seasonal clothing, coats and shoes. They can use blankets and sleeping bags. Then, if you are up-grading and replacing any household items that are still in good condition - like plates, silverware, cooking ware, etc. - TLFB can use them all.

Blessings to you all at Journey Church for your generous care for

people of need in our community.

Session Highlights, 5/17/11

  • Approved request to recarpet E Bldg paid from the funds available in the current budget year.
  • Approved Youth Ministry request to remodel the youth room. Once completed, the Jr. High and Sr. High buildings will be joined and opened up into a recreational student center and a teaching/worship center. $7,500 has been approved from the Valentine Trust to contribute to the project. For more information on this project see our very happy Youth Director, Regan Archer.
  • Discussed timing and format of a town hall meeting to inform the con-gregation and hear thoughts about amendments to the PCUSA constitution. Schedules are being finalized. Watch for a letter from Session containing the details of the meeting to be distributed sometime over the next few weeks.

Session meeting minutes are available in the church office for those who wish to read the detailed minutes. Feel free to ask any Session member for more information. Session meetings are open and the members are

encouraged to attend.
