And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.

Mission Corner

From Pastor Toby Nelson, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama:

Dear Friends,

Today we tried to find the home of a 90 year old lady, but all we found were the rubbled remains of her house.  Across the street a 30-something man emerged from a home that was turned 90 degrees off its foundation and teetering over a ravine.

"What was it like when the tornado hit?" I asked. "I opened the front door and it sounded like a freight train headed right for us," he said. "The electricity went out.  I shouted to my wife and three sons, 'Run down into the basement.' Almost all made it...my youngest son had a cinderblock wall and water heater fall on him as the house lifted off its foundation.  He'll be okay.  Scalding water burned his back.  His foot got crushed."

"We were buried in the basement about 45 minutes.  It was pitch black.  The house exploded, groaned, lifted up, slammed down.  The floor of the house seemed to fall down on us."

"I am lost.  I thought I had a future, but that is gone.  We have lost everything.  We have nothing. I don't know what to do. I'm so confused."

I reached out my hand to his and we prayed. "God you are able.... exceedingly, abundantly, beyond all that we ask ...Bless this man  ...give him a new future.

PLEASE HOLD PASTOR TOBY IN YOUR PRAYERS.
