Mission Corner
PASTOR TOBY NELSON, an up-date on his surgery.
For those who knew he had surgery, Judy was praising God when I talked with her on April 21. He is recovering exceptionally well!! For those who did not know, the first part of April Toby went into the hospital with serious sinus problems. As the local doctors were treating him they determined he needed to be sent to Sacramento for surgery which he had on April 15. Praise God, his surgeon was a good Christian and prayed with him which gave him such assurance and comfort. As they opened up his sinus, they discovered they were impacted with MRSA and time to successfully operate was critical. The MRSA was in danger of infecting his eyes. The surgeon completely opened up his sinus so that no infection could get in again. Pastor Toby is recuperating nicely at home. Some of you also knew that he had hoped to be able to go to Japan. But as God inter-vened in his behalf, the United States was not invited to send chaplains. He was dis-appointed but now sees that God needed him here for this surgery. God works in wondrous ways, His glory to impart! Do continue to keep Pastor Toby in your prayers. |

Session Meeting Highlights for April 19, 2011
The Committee on Ministry representatives visited Journey Church on April 19 for its bi-annual visitation. The 3 person committee met with staff and with Rev. Huusko during the day and held a 2-hour meeting with Session in the evening to discuss various joys, successes, and concerns of Journey Church. They expressed their support for the ministries at Journey Church.
- Administration committee reported funding available from the Valentine Trust funding for facility improvements at $52,200 for 2011/12. This is based on 20% of the Trust value as set by Session policy. The Valentine Trust committee is evaluating project proposals.
- Acting on a request from Missions Committee, a box will be place in the church office for people to donate eyeglasses that will be sent to the Lion's Club.
- Directed $1,000 from Session's budget allocation to sponsor the Power-house Golf tournament. Individual members can contribute to this, if desired.
- Decided to write a letter to a former member to express regret for the hurt Session caused them last fall and let them know they are always welcome at Journey Church, as a friend, visitor, or as a full member in accordance to the Session policy adopted in December.
Session meeting minutes are available in the church office for those who wish to read the detailed minutes. Feel free to ask any Session member for more information. All members of the congregation are encouraged to attend Session meetings.
