Commercial Development Proposed for Property

at U.S. Route 12 at Old McHenry Road

 

First of three informational open houses to take place March 3

 

Lake County will be hosting open house events on the application to rezone the 109-acre property located at the southeast corner of Rte. 12 and Old McHenry Road in unincorporated Lake County.

 

The request is for a rezoning from residential to commercial with a planned unit development to allow for up to 53 acres of high quality commercial development, surrounded by about 50 acres of open space.  The Lake County Planning Building and Development Department and the applicant have worked diligently for many months on an extensive design plan consisting of almost 250 specific development design conditions.

Lake County Transportation Survey

 

Lake County's Transportation Market Analysis

Tuesday, February 21 - Friday, March 16

Lake County is conducting a comprehensive study to better understand the daily travel of people in the county so we can consider enhancements to our public transportation system. Specifically, we want to know where Lake County residents are going and when they are traveling. We also want to know how often Lake County residents use public transportation and whether or not public transportation options are available. This survey will give us data to evaluate public transportation options and consider re-configuring the existing Pace Suburban Bus routes, creating new routes, or adding new public transportation services.

March 20 Election: Voter Power Resources

   

What is on my ballot?

Early voting has started (available through March 15), and to find out what your ballot will look like and where to vote early, please visit the Voter Power Page.

 

May I still register to Vote?

If you are interested in voting in the March 20 primary, the only opportunity is to go to the County Clerk's office in Waukegan through March 13 during business hours. Those who register to vote during this period must vote at the time of registration.  

 

 

Illinois Route 53/120 Blue Ribbon Advisory Council

Discusses Scenarios at Workshop

 

The Illinois Route 53/120 Blue Ribbon Advisory Council - which is working to build consensus around options for the Illinois Route 53 corridor in central Lake County - recently met for an all day workshop to discuss various scenarios for how an extension could be designed. The group considered factors such as access, roadway and intersection design, environmental enhancements, and land use policies for adjacent development. In this 4 minute video, some of presenters briefly summarize the various scenarios.

Summer Youth Employment Program Needs Worksites

The Job Center of Lake County is looking for park districts, cities, villages, townships, libraries and other non-profit agencies to open up their doors and host youth for the Summer Youth Employment Program. If your agency or organization would be willing to provide meaningful part or full-time work experiences for our youth this summer, please contact Jennifer Everett at 847.377.3447 for more information. Save the Date! Jobapalooza Expo on March 8

The Jobapalooza Expo will highlight opportunities for employment, training and more for young adults, ages 15-21. The event will take place on March 8 from 6-8 p.m. at the College of Lake County Gymnasium, 19351 W. Washington St. in Grayslake.  For more information on Jobapalooza, click here.

 

University Center Open House on March 20

On March 20, come learn about The University Center of Lake County's program offerings and get your questions answered! Volunteers will be available to assist current and prospective students in completing and submitting their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) forms. Students filing for FAFSA should bring 2011 tax forms, state ID, social security cards, and asset information.  Students who are still dependent on their parents should also bring their parents' information.
