Lake Cook Rd Construction - Wilmot to Pfingsten/Deerlake planned to start week of March 13th-Expect Delays

Cook County Highway Department (CCHD)  will initiate a  construction project on Lake Cook Rd starting week of March 13,2011*

The project limits are from just E of Wilmot Road to Deerlake Road in Deerfield.   Wilmot is located just E of the Tollway (I-294) and Deerlake is located just W of Waukegan (Route IL 43).    Project will involve improvements including pavement patching and grinding work from E of Wimot to Pine Street and   full pavement widening, reconstruction (Pine to Deerlake) and intersection improvements at Pfingsten Road and removal and replacement of a bridge and box culvert near the intersection of Pfingsten/Lake Cook Road.

Initial work planned beginning week of March 13th will focus on the intersections of Deerlake, Pfingsten and Pine Street.  Contractor, Capital Cement will initiate periodic daytime lane closures at these intersections.  As roadwork proceeds in April lane traffic lanes will be reduced to one lane eastbound and one lane westbound in each direction and traffic shifted to various lanes.

Motorists can EXPECT DELAYS and are advised to drive safely though the construction zone. CCHD plans to provide Electronic Message Signs to alert motorists of the Lake Cook Road construction.

Project is planned for completion by late October 2011.

Cook County Highway Department will  provide construction updates as work proceeds.

For further information contact the  Resident Engineer Aaron Lebowitz at 847-299-2761.

*Cook County is now finalizing contracts/agreements so actual work & lane closures may not start until midweek.  Start of work is also weather permitting.
