Phenology calendars for Lake County now available

What's Phenology?  Phe·nol·o·gy (feh-nahl-oh-jee) is the scientific study of periodic biological phenomena, such as flowering, breeding and migration, in relation to climatic conditions. Though winter has many of us hunkering inside over a mug of hot cocoa, there are natural wonders to be discovered out in your Lake County Forest Preserves.

Now available online are exploration guides to natural events that can be observed as you visit preserves throughout the seasons. These suggestions are simply a starting place for explorations of your own. Once you start experiencing the world through the eyes of a phenologist, you'll be amazed at the wonder of each season that you may have overlooked before. Visit online at www.LCFPD.org/PhenoCalendar to view and download these exploration guides.
