Barbara Lewis at the Juxta Center
August 8th |
Event: August 8th, 2009
Time: 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Location: Ric Castro Salon
/Juxta Center
Barbara Lewis I have enjoyed so many creative pursuits -- apparel design, pottery, lampworking, enameling, jewelry making, raku beads, PMC. I feel invigorated when I learn something new and almost immediately start thinking about ways to experiment with the new material. In my job I do a lot of editing and I love to write. I enjoy the challenge of saying things as concisely and creatively as possible. It's kinda like playing scrabble, but without the cheating or arguing about the rules!
Look for Barbara Lewis in the upcoming Issue of Belle Armoire Jewelry Magazine

Meet-the-Artist & Trunk Show
with jewelry artist Anna Balkan
Friday, July 17th at 6pm
Free
A native Russian, Anna came to New York City in 1992 alone, jobless, with just $100 & speaking only Russian. She learned to speak English & earned a college degree. Anna worked hard at a variety of jobs before following her dream of launching her own jewelry line 3 years ago. She was invited to LA for festivities surrounding the 2007 Oscars & her jewelry has now been worn by celebrities such as Minnie Driver & Mandy Moore among others.
Anna's jewelry is handmade with beads & gemstones from around the world. Each piece is designed with particular care for the colors & textures and the way the light reflects from or passes through each material. They are conversation pieces.
Earlier this year Anna joined the board of directors of Stop Trafficking of People. She is also in St. Petersburg to attend a benefit for STOP International at NOVA 535 the night following the event. Anna will contribute 10% of all proceeds to benefit this organization.
