New Name - New Time - New Vendors
 
Grand Central District's Peddler's Market, that takes place every Sunday, is getting ready for some exciting changes, including fruit and vegetable, plant, and organic vendors.
 
The new name will be
 
Grand Central District Green Market and Street Fair

2nd Annual Hogs n' Dogs  
Sunday, June 28
10am ~ 2pm


Grand Central District Association will kick-off 4th of July week with a festive day of fun, shopping and entertaining events for the entire family. 
 
Some things to look forward to: 
  • Hogs n' Dogs - Doggie Pageant
  • Hot dog eating contest sponsored by Vienna Beef
  • Doggie Photo Contest 
  • The Red Knights Motorcycle Club
Hogs n' Dogs will take place on Central Avenue beginning at 24th Street. There will be vendors for shopping, live music and refreshments.  While you are here, make sure to enjoy a cold glass of lemonade at Alex's Lemonade Stand, benefiting children's cancer research.  Proceeds from the Doggie Pageant will be going to the Tampa Bay SPCA.

The City of St. Petersburg is proud to host the 13th Annual Florida Neighborhoods Conference July 9-11, 2009 at St. Petersburg Hilton Bayfront Hotel.

Some of the attendees will be touring Grand Central District.  The conference, which takes place at St. Petersburg Hilton Bayfront Hotel,  is designed to assist communities in building strong neighborhood foundations by offering workshops, tours, speakers and opportunities for neighborhood advocates from small towns to large cities to network and share information.

"Westward Ho" Tour
Thursday, June 11th, 5:30pm - 8:00pm
$5 members / $10 non-members
This walking tour starts off on the corner of Central Avenue & 2nd Street, then travels through the downtown waterfront.  You will learn about the history & future of our area as you walk through the country's largest public waterfront park system.  Board a trolley west to the Craftsman House Gallery.  After a brief history of our historic 1918 property, the tour continues through one of the country's premier bungalow neighborhoods - Historic Kenwood.   One of the bungalows will be open for viewing.  Then return to Craftsman House for a bite to eat before taking the trolley back to the waterfront. 
 
Loving Day Celebration

Loving Day celebrates Loving vs. Virginia, the landmark 1967 Supreme Court decision that legalized interracial marriage in the United States.  Loving Day's mission is to fight prejudice through education & to build a sense of community among people who engage in meaningful interracial and intercultural relationships.
Craftsman House will have special Loving Day items on our menu, with special treats for all interracial couples.
