Recipe of the Month +

Greetings!

We are so often asked for access to the recipe of a favorite dish or two.  New year, new thoughts on sharing recipes & in how best to support the interests of our customers.   We will send one recipe to our 1,000 person e-community each month, along with a quick update / news of BRBC.  Please send us your requests and to the best of our ability, we will respond.

Sincerely,

Bob and Karen Finigan
Haitian Relief:  money sent / more to send

Thank you all for continuing to help us with outreach in the hunger & homelessness space.  Haiti needs help on both fronts & so much more.  We are a small shop with a great clientele & we will continue to donate funds for Haiti, now via The National Restaurant Association:http://www.strength.org/get_involved/restaurants_for_relief/

Specifically: Between 1/30/10 & 2/13/10 we will send 50% of value of a favorite meal item on each menu:
  • Breakfast - the Timbale of eggs
  • Lunch - the special grilled cheese sandwich
  • Dinner - the small plate gnocchi
We are happy to accept your cash donations to add to what we send!
Gift Cards now available online, at our website

And you can "e"- send one to a friend, co-worker, family member or whoever you wish to introduce to The BRBC.  We will of course still mail the gift card out to your recipient or you can pick it up @ the shop.

We hope this new option will be useful to those who call us from afar, wanting to give a BRBC gift card to someone in our area.  In addition to gift cards, our web-based offering will have holiday & seasonal specials you can buy as a gift  - watch for updates!

Dinners are growing in favor, wines add to the "wow" of the evening
It seems our BR clientele are fans of good wine & enjoy being able to bring a favorite bottle or two to dinner.
In the earliest days, we had no wine glasses available, in fact, an early customer who enjoyed a glass of wine with lunch had to bring us 4 glasses for his guests use - we kept them in the office just for him!  Now we have a basic wine glass for all comers, and they are getting a good workout on Thurs, Fri & Sat.  We are planning to add wine pairing recommendations to our dinner menu, so watch for that in the coming months.
Remember, no corkage fee @ BRBC, BYOB & enjoy a good meal, in good company with a good bottle of your favorite grape!
Mango Salsa
 Ingredients:
1 ripe mango
1 small cucumber
1/2 small red onion
1 small bunch of cilantro (leaves only)
1 small jalapeno pepper
juice of 1 lime
salt / pepper to taste

To make:
peel & dice the mango
seed, peel & dice the cucumber
mince the onion
chop the cilantro leaves
seed & dice the pepper (include seeds if you like a hot salsa)

Combine all ingredients in a non-reactive bowl & mix thoroughly
Chill for at least 1 hour before serving.

This is a wonderful winter pick me up, a reminder of the sunny south & full of great vegetables & vitamins.  We find good mangos at the Rt 130 Farmers' Market.

We served the salsa at lunch today with our house-braised pulled pork plate!
Mark your calendars for Taste of a Nation Princeton, April 13th @ Westin, Forrestal Village

See us there with new taste treats & at least one "old" favorite - our signature S'More Cheesecake!
